All of them are dumb.
That Carlos and Gabby mess? Dumb.
Lynette not telling them about cancer? Dumb.
Edy hanging crap? Dumb.
Edy blackmailing Carlos to stay with her? Dumb. (She doesn't know Gabby is TRULY gully.)
The fake baby? Dumb.
The kid who was OBVIOUSLY kidnapped and switched? DUMB.
Menopause but now preggo? Dumb.
Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.
Only thing came out of this...I'm wearing my pearls tomorrow.
Nite...I'm going to bed. I've been disappointed enough by ABC this week. Humph.
He's wrote his memoirs and we're watching him on "60 Minutes." What say you...HotNESS or HotMESS?
When we started planning for my wedding my mother asked me what I wanted. We said something small and intimate and at first that's exactly what it seemed we were getting. Now my mother has turned into the motherzilla of the bride. She has gone crazy. Her best friend's daughter got engaged around the same time and it seems that they are in competition to see who can outdo who. We are seriously thinking about calling the whole thing off and eloping and my father is threatening to help us. I want a pretty wedding and I always have, I'm very upset that my mother has turned my wedding into her personal I'm better than you event and every time I bring it up she jumps all over me telling me that I'm ungrateful. What should I do?
HAPPY SUNDAY! I woke this morning and my internet is working again. Go figure! LOL!
Question...when it's time for family friendly fun...what do you guys do? A friend of mine is looking for some suggestions and I told her I'd do her one better. I'd ask all the FABULOUS folks that visit my site for THEIR favorite things and as all of them are SUPERFLY...I'm sure she'll get some awesome ideas!
So...what are YOUR favorite family fun things to do?
....if your parents didn't like the one you loved FROM THE VERY BEGINNING??????? Would you try and make them see their good qualities? Would you leave them alone? Would you do nothing and live your life?
Have you ever been in this situation before?
A chick in Starbucks just leaned over in my space to tell me she loved my rings and then she said she was engaged once but the guy gave her an ugly ring and she broke it off.
I can honestly say I didn't have anything to say after that because I've never heard of that really happening in real life. I remembered a convo I had with Diva once about something regarding this she blogged about...and I was like...WAIT TILL I TELL DIVA THIS MESS!
Ladies...is the ring that important? Would you end it if he gave you a ring you didn't like?
...one guy REALLY broke it down: http://www.whereistheoutrage.net/wordpress/2007/09/28/immigrant-wants-to-go-home-with-his-money/
He paid payroll taxes and produced the check stubs to prove it. He didn't, however, file income taxes yearly. BUT...I'm thinking that at $5.50 an hour...he wouldn't have had to pay anything and in fact he might have gotten money back.
If he worked over 22,000 hours at $5.50 he made $125,000ish in the 11 years. Subtract the $59,000 that means he lived off of $500 a month for 11 years and saved everything else.
He saved 47% of his income.
I so hate this story.
20 questions to determine how well you know the person sleeping next to you (assuming it’s your spouse):
Robby and I just did this...a mess. ROFL!
I just made a loan to someone in the developing world using a revolutionary new website called Kiva.
You can go to Kiva's website and lend to someone in the developing world who needs a loan for their business - like raising goats, selling vegetables at market or making bricks. Each loan has a picture of the entrepreneur, a description of their business and how they plan to use the loan so you know exactly how your money is being spent - and you get updates letting you know how the business is going. The best part is, when the entrepreneur pays back their loan you get your money back - and Kiva's loans are managed by microfinance institutions on the ground who have a lot of experience doing this, so you can trust that your money is being handled responsibly.
I just made a loan to an entrepreneur named María Benítez in Paraguay. They still need another $775.00 to complete their loan request of $1,000.00 (you can loan as little as $25.00!). Help me get this business off the ground by clicking on the link below to make a loan to María Benítez too:
It's finally easy to actually do something about poverty - using Kiva I know exactly who my money is loaned to and what they're using it for. And most of all, I know that I'm helping them build a sustainable business that will provide income to feed, clothe, house and educate their family long after my loan is paid back.
Join me in changing the world - one loan at a time.
What others are saying about www.Kiva.org:
'Revolutionising how donors and lenders in the US are connecting with small entrepreneurs in developing countries.'
'If you've got 25 bucks, a PC and a PayPal account, you've now got the wherewithal to be an international financier.'
-- CNN Money
'Smaller investors can make loans of as little as $25 to specific individual entrepreneurs through a service launched last fall by Kiva.org.'
-- The Wall Street Journal
'An inexpensive feel-good investment opportunity...All loaned funds go directly to the applicants, and most loans are repaid in full.'
-- Entrepreneur Magazine
He should die. Simple. They should find him...take him to jail and wake him up early the next morning and take him to the electric chair. Simple.
I had a GREAT day today! Yall know on Friday's I gotta get the heck outta my house cuz of Ms. Olga and crew for two reasons. One...because I feel like crap sitting around doing nothing while they are cleaning and I usually end up helping. Go figure. Two...because Ms. Olga...being Ms. Olga...asks everytime she sees me whether we're preggo yet. AND...having this convo with her in Spanish is interesting to say the least cuz I don't know all the preggo slang words and colloquials she uses.
Ms. Olga: Embarasado todavia?
Me: No...no todavia.
Ms. Olga: jenot'rgoeinoehdglehrngofihvgagojsrhnfopfdikbinvodslrkfgjosegfbawplrojghaoena fkdsfhweodihnegksdfk
Me: Ca va.
Or something like that.
So I hit up one of my new FABULOUS friends and asked if she wanted to have lunch and hit one of my fav shopping spots. She was game. So we went to lunch...did minimal shopping together and then she was off to get gorgeous for a big Black Caucus party tonight. You know...fancy people and whatnot. She described her dress and yall...I'm CONVINCED she's gonna be the belle of the ball hands down. I can't WAIT for a report. LOL!
So I hit a few more spots and headed home thinking Ms. Olga and crew would be ghost. No such luck.
Ms. Olga: Embarasado todavia?
Me: No...no todavia.
Ms. Olga: jenot'rgoeinoehdglehrngofihvgagojsrhnfopfdikbinvodslrkfgjosegfbawplrojghaoena fkdsfhweodihnegksdfk
Me: Ca va.
Me luby Ms. Olga. She gives hugs as good as my mother did. :)
Um...wow...I'm watching Oprah...
This dude told his wife...who he'd been married to for 11 years...that he was really a woman. He was an OBGYN and was the father of 3 children.
He had a sex change and is now a she.
He/she and his/her wife have been married now for 22 years.
Now THAT'S unconditional love. Seriously. No. SERIOUSLY.
I was talking to my baby cousin on yesterday (who I need to stop calling my baby cousin because she is a grown married woman with a beautiful child... ROFL! BUT YOU ALWAYS GONNA BE MY BABY COUSIN SO THERE PUNKETTE!) about her career path.
She's an engineer and she made a change recently WITHIN the engineering field to support her quality of life regarding having time for her son while he's a toddler.
The convo was going well till she told me something one of her girlfriends told her and I pulled rank.
Me: Do me a favor and stop listening to girlfriends like that. In fact...stop listening to ANYONE who is not in your field...why???? CUZ THEY DON'T KNOW YOUR FIELD! Look at your companies roster...find the person who is the head person in the direction you're thinking of going and then...call their assistant and get on their calendar for 15 minutes. When you go to the meeting have SPECIFIC questions regarding. You'll find that the 15 minute meeting will turn into more than 15 minutes because folks like this are ALWAYS impressed when they see someone take this kind of initiative.
TRUST ME ON THIS ONE!
She said okay. :) Cuz she's my baby cousin and she knows how much I love her.
Who do YOU get your career advice from? Do you have a mentor in your field? A SUCCESSFUL mentor?
The person who doesn't like you but pretends they do for the sake of "appearance" or the person that's flat out like..."I don't like you?"
Me personally...I like to get it out of the way. You don't like me...I don't like you...we ain't gotta waste one second longer dealing with each other.
Okay...so far...this is MY FAVORITE NEW SHOW OF THE SEASON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This mess is HILARIOUS! And Robby is laughing way...WAAAAAAAAY TOO MUCH!
LOVE Nia Long in it. LOVE HER!
Also...he will ALWAYS be Bobby Donnell to me. :O
Hello folks. I’m off to Moonlight and Magnolias. Wish me luck. This is the cover Whit designed for my book. Isn’t it gorgeous?!? Of course, it isn’t the real cover, after all I have neither publisher nor agent. I wanted something pretty to put on the front of my partials, and he came up with this. He’s such a doll. Normally getting him to do stuff like this is like pulling teeth. Even on his best days my baby has the personality of a wolverine, but he’s been so sweet and tender with me. I guess he knows I’m on the verge of a full-fledged freak out! -lol-
If you’re in the Atlanta area on Saturday, September 29, 4-5:30 p.m., join me and several other authors including Linda Howard, Rita Herron, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Seressia Glass and many more for a large Bookfair and Autographing that’s free to the public! We’ll be in the Hilton Atlanta Northeast on Peachtree Industrial Blvd in Norcross. I’d really love to meet you.
GO ROZ!!!!!!!!! REPRESENT US WELL!
...with her punk azz...http://dearlesley.wordpress.com/2007/09/24/return-of-the-lame-azz-blog/
I called a girlfriend today who is a pharm sales rep and asked her if there is anyone she talks to daily that would take notice if she went missing.
She said no.
That disturbed me.
So then I called a few other women I know and a couple of them said no too.
That REALLY disturbed me.
So back to my first girlfriend who said no. She's from home. I've been knowing her for a long time. BUT...if I had to...I wouldn't know who to call cuz I don't have her mother's information (I'm correcting that TONIGHT mind ya).
Then I started thinking about you guys? Those of you who are single and living alone...do you have someone you talk to daily? Does that person have your family's contact information in the event you went missing? If not...rectify that IMMEDIATELY PLEASE!
Gladys said something that struck a nerve with me too. She was like folks are so secretive with who they are dating or creeping with that someone could very well get away with murder without their friends and family knowing or...for that matter...have any idea they were even DATING someone.
Where I'm from...if anyone messes with you...you always have a cousin that will go "talk to" the person for you. This doesn't happen much I here I would think unless you're involved in...erra...gang activity.
That said...can you guys do me a favor and decide on someone who you're going to touch base with in some form daily and make sure that person knows how to contact your family? Okay...thanks...that's all I wanted.
SHE COULD HAVE BEEN ONE OF US.
Yall know Adrienne right? http://www.adrienneslittleworld.typepad.com/She's one of them Erica B. kinda peoples. FABULOUS, crafty and creative. You know...the kind we HATE on constantly cuz we can't do what they do. ROFL!
Well...she was out and about today at her daughter's school and the policeman there had a taser so ya girl HAD to take pics to send us. ROFL! HOW HILARIOUS IS THIS????????? TOO FUNNY!
Look at Adrienne's face...does she look like she's saying..."Please don't make me tase you." ROFLROFLROFLROFLROFL! She's too sweet looking. She looks like she's saying...please don't make me invite you over for tea and crumpets!
THANKS FOR THINKING OF ME PRINCESS! Ummmmm...can I get something...erra...tailored made for little old me? Cuz Erica B just be out for herself...humph.
Tomorrow's show: http://www.drphil.com/shows/
Update on case...bail being posted for last young man: http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/law/09/27/jena.six/index.html
How do you feel that Dr. Phil is doing a show but Oprah hasn't? Why do you think she hasn't?
Her family is saying the body that was found is hers.
This hurts me to my very core cuz she could have very well been someone I knew personally you know? Like...she was just like us. Same M.O. Work hard, great personality, jazzy appearance, normal family...*sigh*
I mean yes...I know folks go missing everyday and it's always tragic...but when I looked into HER eyes...it was like I saw a FRIEND. Someone I KNEW.
I was talking to one of the elders in my family the other day and he said that he feels a shift in the air. He says he has seen several shifts during his lifetime, some good...some bad. He felt a shift during the fight for basic civil rights and he felt a shift after Dr. King died. He felt a shift when our men came home from Vietnam and he's seen things go from good to bad to worse than ever and he's seen the deliniation of the so called "class" standards get firmer and firmer within the race. He stated the differences in people with the same skin color and only a block separating them and how those that decided they were "better than" pull close to their families and stop reaching out and helping others attain enlightenment because of the fear factor that exists in the world of the "haves" when it comes to dealing with the "have nots."
He stated that he has been listening to people talk lately and has seen the disdain for the world BET portrays become ABUNDANT. He's seen how the use of the N-word, which he NEVER uses, has become taboo with folks he NEVER thought it would become taboo with and he said just yesterday he'd received a call from a mother who wanted him to talk to her son for her and he was surprised...no...REALLY. He was surprised. He stated that things like that used to happen back in the day. Folks would see someone needed a mentor and wouldn't hesitate in picking up the phone cuz everyone was listed.
With pride he spoke of Obama and talked about how folks can say what they want to say cuz Obama is as Black as he is and he's proud that THIS Black man is one folks will listen to because they CAN without having to turn the other cheak regarding something stoopit he's done cuz he's like so many other Black men out there who work hard, love their families, are politically active...and don't make a blip on the radar that tracks fools like that Snoopy Dog (his words not mine) and his every move.
My Uncle believes that the shift in Black America has started. He says he watched with PRIDE the march on Jena and he believes that the shift is spreading and that before you know it...folks are going to know the TRUTH...that there are more of US than there are of THEM and that WE are going to start doing what needs to be done to empower each other more and more.
And then...he told me this. He said...I read that site of yours and I've read some of the sites you link to on your site and I hope more of the young Black people are reading them and I hope that the media is paying attention too. I hope the world is seeing that we haven't raised as many knuckleheads as they want the world to think.
Yes folks...my Uncle smells it in the air. He smells a shift and he thinks this time WE are going to win.
My heart hurts for this family. Oh my God it does. When I "walked" through blogland and saw so many others passing along the word and praying for her safe return...I felt that same sense of CONNECTION I felt when we were trying to get the word passed along regarding the Jena 6.
I hang my head this morning with the knowledge that one of US was brutally taken away from us. With the knowledge that this beautiful girl is gone from this world before her time.
A change is in the works folks. Keep talking, keep enlightening...KEEP CONNECTING WITH FOLKS.
Is it just my Uncle that is sensing this? Do you see it too? Are you more aware of what is going on around you?
I haven't watched this program since I left my parent's home (my mother was a HUGE fan) but I immediately thought...AW LAWD! NOT VICTOR!
So I'm thinking...all them folks still on the show and ain't nuttin YOUNG about them...shouldn't the show name change? Shouldn't it be Babyboomers and the Restless? Is Nicky still there? She and Victor ever get back together finally?
Do yall watch soap operas? Which ones? How long you been watching em?
Thanks Nik. *sigh*
Let us pray.
Do you CARE what white people think of you if you're a non-white?
I remember reading a convo once where black folks were saying they felt uncomfortable doing things like eating fried chicken and/or watermelon in front of white people because of the negative stereotypes white people associate with that. I didn't say anything during the conversation cuz I was thinking good...more watermelon for me when you're around then.
Aiight...now I know by now all of yall have heard about what O'Reilly has said. And yup...I'm about to play Devil's Advocate again.
Read this article first: http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/TV/09/26/oreilly.race/index.html
Now...I'm going to agree that a good majority of whites in his demographic think EXACTLY as he suggested about black people cuz they don't KNOW any better. They don't deal with black people on a regular basis so their "experience" stems from what they see in the media and we ALL KNOW how blacks folks are portrayed for the most part in the media right? Right.
That said...if that's the case...was it really wrong of him to say what he said? Sure...it's stoopit...TO US...but we know US. We know lots of people LIKE us. Right? But what if you didn't know?
Remember the first time you saw a Muslim after 9/11? Even the most liberal of us looked at his/her azz sideways right? Right. I know I did. I didn't trust em and would have dropped one in a heartbeat had they made a weird move. Why? BECAUSE I WAS SCARED and because we'd been attacked right here...at HOME by a group of Muslims who had moved through our society with ease. Once I got over my irrational fear my head got back right and I stopped making stoopit assumptions based on the stereotypes that were being shoved down my throat.
Can not the same be said for folks like O'Reilly regarding their irrational view of US?
Now...I don't like the man nor his politics so don't get it twisted. And TRUST this ain't the first time he's said something just as controversial about US mind ya. I just want to hear what yall have to say about this thought process.
Was it wrong for him to voice how he TRULY felt about learning a lesson that contradicted what he THOUGHT he'd see based on the media's portrayal of US?
Are you watching this season?
What storyline intrigues you the most?
How do you feel about Isiah's character not returning?
Is George gonna leave his wife?
Should Izzy be slapped?
Meredith and Derrick gonna make it?
Chief and his wife gonna be right again?
Is Christine gonna be eviler than ever?
Is Doctor Bailey FINALLY gonna hit someone?
During class yesterday I had a migraine. I fought it but had to take a Relpax in the end cuz it was THUMPING! I was sitting there thinking to myself...I wonder if they know I'm on drugs. LOL! And then I giggled to myself and my classmate next to me looked at me like I was crazy. I sank down into my seat. LOL!
I'm learning a lot in class and the most fascinating thing is...I'm learning a HUGE amount from my classmates. Sheesh...some of them don't even need to be there they are so knowledgeable about film. I know one thing for certain...I don't wanna be a cameraman. LOL! But I like knowing what it is they know.
Of course I take oodles of notes because I like to go over them again when I'm home so it sinks in. We shot some film last night as we were learning about white balancing and that was pretty darn cool.
*sigh* I love this man!
I brought a dozen of donuts in for my class but felt really guilty when I started eating my almonds and fruit and they were eating donuts. I wanted to bring them a snack and didn't know what to bring and I figure donuts were pretty universal. I don't think anyone got upset as I think they ate them all. Maybe next time I'll take them whole wheat crackers and cheese.
Robby got home super late from the airport. His flight didn't get in until after one so by the time he made it home me and the pooches had fallen asleep waiting on him. I saw him briefly this morning as he was running out of here for another important meeting he wanted to participate in. I love how driven he is. Truly I do.
I'm currently trying to get outta bed and I don't think it's gonna happen. LOL! I am soooooooooo tired!
The new Bloomie's opens today in Chevy Chase but I can't go cuz the salespeople that take SUCH great care of me are staying at White Flint. *sigh* So I can't even go look cuz I might be tempted to buy something and when I buy something I want them to get their full credit due cuz they take such great care of me.
I'm going to fight this dang migraine again today. Three days in a row. No WONDER I'm in such a foul azz mood. I thought it was because the folks were already outside cutting grass with all that dang noise. Humph.
Here at www.MonicaMingo.com we've gotten a pretty good system of recognizing crazy. And...being crazy ourselves...we have a good system to DEAL WITH IT.
So first things first. When someone comments, it sends us an email. If the email weirds us out, we put it in a file named CBA3 and we keep an eye on the person. If the person starts coming out the box quickly...we ban them...no problem. (It should be noted that in the years we've been blogging...we've had to ban 33 folks.)
Once in the CBA3 file...your activity is monitored. I label your IP address (s) with a special name I have for you so that when I look over my daily stats...yours just pops right out. (I find this is the easiest way to do this because of the volume of traffic I get daily and I want to separate the crazy ones from the "my kind of people's" with just a glance.)
And then I check for anything weird. Like going back to certain TYPES of posts as if they are LOOKING for something. And I wait. Cuz stoopit azzes always show their azz eventually OR they prove to be smarter than I gave them credit for and decide to stay away cuz they recognize we're not their kinda people.
So...when you do stoopit ish like make multiple comments from the same IP addy using a different name each time...and it's not a joke like SIP nor is your name Cybil...um...yeah...it's time for you to go. Usually I shop your IP addy around to the usual suspects...but most of the time...I just ban you as it's simple for all involved.
With the most recent banned chick...I've been watching her since she first showed up August. IP Address: 126.96.36.199. In my CBA3 file she was labeled as "Abrasive and potentially Hood." :) And the person she sent by after she found she was banned has been banned too: IP address: 188.8.131.52
Next...the threats. Now THESE I don't play with. AT ALL. See...when folks threaten me...I see spots and THAT'S when I get my money involved and let me tell you...IT AIN'T CHEAP so don't think I'm not going to contact the police with the report once I get it so your dumb azz can find out just how ANONYMOUS your internet "footprints" AIN'T.
I don't play with crazies. When I go to a site where I don't care for the tone...I never, EVER go back. SIMPLE. The amount of times "Abrasive and potentially Hood" visits is AMAZING and yes...will continue to be tracked. LOL!
Okay...just so folks know there is a method to my madness.
If you don't like something over here...cool. I can't even tell you how many disagreements we've had over here and when folks do it respectfully...no one gets hurt. Who'da ever thunk Roslyn and DJ Black Adam would end up being "friends" after their first knock down drag out over here? ROFL!
Go where you're wanted. Like my Grandmother always says, "Them people don't want you down there...don't go down there. Simple."
