If they give a fuel tax holiday...people are going to drive more.
Fuel reserves will go down.
Lower supply means the price will go back up (simple economics 101)
The price will end up exactly where it was.
BUT...
The government will be out of 10 billion dollars in taxes.
10 billion dollars out of the Highway Trust Fund...which pays for the maintenance of highways and bridges, etc. You know...like the maintenance for the bridge in Minneapolis????????? Unh huh.
Who profits????????? THE OIL COMPANIES BECAUSE THEY ARE GETTING THE EIGHTEEN CENTS PER GALLON THE GOVERNMENT WOULD HAVE BEEN GETTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND...I'm not even TOUCHING the environmental impact. Presidential candidates telling people to DRIVE MORE? Um...yeah...*sigh*
