For Kayla's dinner, we WERE going to Graces Mandarin. One of the Top Mafia went to Graces Mandarin with her husband and raved about it so we decided it would be the perfect place for us to share this special time. She is well acquainted with all things FABULOUS so I knew it had to be the place to be!
I called and made the rezzie and was told that because of the size (I told them 20) a manager would call me. I thought it odd...but whatever.
The manager calls me to tell me he needed to fax me some paperwork for me to fill out and I'm like...AAARRRRUUUUU? Turns out I needed to give them a deposit even though it wasn't a private room kinda thing.
Puzzled I explained to him that we do this once a month and this was the first place that had ever asked for a deposit. He said they do it for any rezzie over 13.
I am NOT paying a deposit ESPECIALLY when I've never had to pay a deposit before so I got off the phone. Quick.
I called another of the Top Mafia to tell her of this nonsense and she asked me where was the restaurant. I told her at the National Harbor and she said...you know that's in PG County right? That's why they have "special" rules.
I DIDN'T know National Harbor was in PG County but I'm familiar with places having "special" rules in place due to the demographic of the area.
Needless to say...I'm PISSED.
Those of you who received an evite will have to check the soon to come follow up email because we are CERTAINLY changing the restaurant to one in an area that DOESN'T have "special" rules for NON-PRIVATE PARTIES. So yes...we're back to DC. HUMPH.
