I know you are out and about getting ready for your New Years Eve brunch but I need some help. My husband and I are moving to out townhouse in the middle of January and we have a huge problem. Both our living room and bedroom suites are black leather. My current bedroom is painted a light blue and I have black and white everything, from comforter to pillows to curtains. In my living room, the walls are a lime green and the same for the pillows and curtains as the bedroom. I have attached pictures of the new place. Could you and the tribe tell me what I can do to make my furniture fit into this townhouse. We plan on painting but the light brown trimming is throwing me off. Thanks for your help!!

However...MY gifts to her didn't come to fruition due to onforseen circumstances.
ST has all the cold weather gear he needs now. The REAL stuff. Dude be all cheesed up when he's getting his buddling up on. ROFL! He so cute to me! Love me some my baby cousin!
I'm about to run out and get the rest of what I need for our NYE brunch tomorrow. I can't WAIT to see everyone! I hope they come dressed casual in case we hit up that Wii Fit Plus after libations! LOL! Yall KNOW that's gonna be CA-RA-ZY!
I just finished my list and I JUST decided to make a big pot of black eyed peas for them just in case they are too fancy to cook up their own mess of black eyed peas too. LOL!
Might as well do cabbage too huh?
I was concerned we'd have more DRANK than food but I've been told that even if this happens...it ain't no biggy. ROFL!
I hate them. Seriously...I hate them.
Tweeting on Tussin is dangerous! LOL!

Mel sent me a link to buy some booty drawz. I was initially confucious cuz yall KNOW I don't need no.mo.booty.
I'm feeling rejuvenated. This year was really hard on my spirit as I never thought we'd be 40 without a baby.
I had a conversation with a lovely man yesterday in the waiting room that Imma write about when I have time cuz he made me go hmmmmmmmmm....
I can't wait till I'm "over" Facebook.
Me and the new phone might not make it. I think I've determined I might not need all of that. When I say this to The Robinator he stomps off rolling his eyes mumbling bout gifts and ish.
I eat a big handful of mixed nuts in shell everyday as long as I see them. ROFL!
I have to get some furniture moving done for tomorrow. I'm doing a different set up than the crew is used to.
I really wish I had enough time to find bulk champagne glasses for the mimosas but hey...them all purpose wine glasses should do just fine.
I'm really feeling very, very good this morning and I hope you are too!
Forgot to post this. Sorry. Put it in your recipe book for next year. I'm a bad big sister. :)
1 lb black eyed peas (SOAKED IN WATER OVERNIGHT!)
1 ham bone or 1 lb ham hocks (this is why you save the bone with the difficult to cut meat on it from the Christmas ham...just wrap it good in foil and put in a ziploc freezer bag!)
1 yellow onion
1 bell pepper
5 stalks of celery
3 cloves of garlic minced
3 bay leaves
1 teaspoon of thyme
9 cups of chicken broth (yes I use boullion cubes)
Salt and pepper (black and cayenne) to taste *NOTE! I DON'T PUT IN SALT UNTIL THE VERY END AS YOU NEVER KNOW HOW SALTY THE HAM HOCK WILL BE! WHEN YOU HAVE YOUR LAST "TASTE" ADJUST SALT THEN...YOU PROLLY WON'T NEED ANY!
In olive oil, saute diced onion, celery and bell pepper for about 10 minutes. Add thyme, bay leaves, black and cayenne pepper. Add beans and broth, then ham hock.
Bring to boil uncovered. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 2 hours. YES...I SAID TWO HOURS! The best cooking is done slooooooooooooooow!
After two hours, remove ham bone and put on plate. Carve meat off bone into bite sized pieces. Put meat ONLY back in pot. Taste and adjust seasonings.
Cover and let sit for like 20 minutes.
Serve over brown rice. Oh yeah...they will be muuuuuuuuuuch better tomorrow! LOL!
You do red beans the same exact way cept you add sausage after you add the chicken broth.
P.S. For you non-pork eaters...I guess you can use smoked turkey...but I wouldn't know cuz I use pork...the pig ain't never done nuttin to me! I eat it "from the rooter to the tooter!"
I'm addicted to NPR and have been known to sit in the truck in the parking lot or even in front of my own home to finish listening to something interesting.
Yesterday...on Kojo Nnamdi's show there was a rebroadcast of "A Hip-Hop Theory of Justice" and it was truly fascinating indeed. Mr. Paul Butler broke down some things I've been thinking on ever since. His personal story and history was so fascinating that it made me drive slow so I didn't miss a thing.
Before I get into it completely I'd like to ask you guys something which was addressed during the program...what is YOUR definition of "snitching?"
I don't think people connect enough with other people. I think they don't trust people enough. It seems to be very hard to live a life where you're always wondering if this person or that person means you harm.
I think people are all trying to emulate a life they see on television instead of living a healthy, wholesome life full of laughter and surrounded by people whom they enjoy and love.
I think folks worry too much about the wrong stuff instead of focusing on living good and I think the definition of living good has been lost in translation.
I think people have forgotten the basics that sustained people in the most difficult of times and showed them what's most important.
I think people have given up on being simple, good people.
I'm trying to change that in my neck of the world with this little bit of influence I have with people I have access to. I check on my neighbors, feed their cats when they are traveling. Watch their kids for them in emergencies and keep an eye out for them when I see them out playing. I give simple gifts. I give big smiles and HUGE laughs.
I love people and I truly believe that we can save the world we live in by being better people to those we have access to. That kinda reach spreads like wildfire and the goodness it manifests can save lives.
Back to the basics is what we need. Value what most relevant.
If this isn't your mantra...I wish you'd give it a try.
Hello Monica. I continue to enjoy your blog. I am a single mother of a special needs child and I was wondering do you or anyone from the Tribe know of any legitimate and profitable home-based businesses? I am looking for something with very low start-up funds. I have lost thousands of dollars over the years investing in scams and have become quite discouraged. It would be nice to know about any opportunities/resources that were credible.

In the Winter time you will very seldom see me with my hair down. Why? Because I know 90% of my body heat escapes through my head so I am all about the Smart Wool hat. Wool and hair that is naturally dry and dryER because it is relaxed isn't a good mix. So yeah...I keep my hair under wrap moisturized well with a satin skully on under my warm, wool hat.
What about you? Do you ever "hibernate" your hair? What's your method?
I know yall have heard about the terrorist attempt on a flight to Detroit.
I know yall have also heard about the passengers jumping his azz right proper.
I know yall are probably wondering...like me...who in the WORLD are these dumb azz terrorists that think we're going to let this shit go down again like it did last time?
Dude...the outcome of the last terrorist attack on American soil pretty much guarantees that you will be stopped, beaten and then arrested. Ain't no second guessing yall...ain't no wondering if you're serious. As far as WE, THE AMERICAN PEOPLE are concerned...you MF's trying to start something so yeah...it's gonna BE something.
Seriously terrorists...just stop trying. We ain't playing witchall.
To Jasper Schuringa, the dude who stopped Umar whateverthefughisnameis from blowing up a plane...dude...had we been in South Beach when you got there we would have bought you dinner, drinks and gave you cash for lap dances at your favorite strip club.
On Christmas day Robby and I usually take in a movie. As a child-free couple...Christmas is pretty laid back for us so it's doable early in the morning so we get up and get out.
This Christmas we went to see "Sherlock Holmes."
It's no secret that I LURVES me some Robert Downey, Jr. I mean really...he is the SHIZNIK!...so yeah...I was expecting the movie to be big and great.
And it was.
I loved the back and forth banter between Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. In the beginning it was sooooooooo hot. I felt that while they were attempting to build the plot and had us focused on the villian...they kinda lost the "pace" and it really took a minute before it picked up again. It was as if every scene Robert Downey, Jr. wasn't in was kinda laggin.
But maybe that's just me.
Yall know I'm odd hell.
Did I sit there and wonder how Sherlock Holmes could figure out all of that stuff so quickly? No. Shit...it's SHERLOCK HOLMES HELL! That's what dude was KNOWN for.
Don't be a dumb critic. Sheesh.
If you want to laugh and root for the hero this here is a good movie to go see. I know I enjoyed the HELL out of it as did The Robinator.
Apparently The Robinator was kinda sick of my being annoyed with my T-Mobile Blackberry and decided that I needed a change in my life. LOL! I am now the confused new owner of a Droid and I'm kicking and screaming while trying to figure it out.
I don't rightly know if I'm a touch screen chick which is why I like the Blackberry so much but Blackberry's have been having problems and it irks me that I can't see comments on my blog on a Blackberry.
I'm struggling trying to figure out the most basic of things and have only successfully answered two calls since I got it.
I'm not happy.
I didn't like the fact that a manual didn't come with the phone because I'm a manual person and have a tendency to carry the manual around with me until I get the hang of it. I had to download the damn manual to my computer: Download Droidmanual
The dude who set up my email addys on my droid put typos in it and I'm really annoyed that I haven't figured out yet how to fix it. I mean really...that's just disrespectful. You asked me to write it down and I did...and you couldn't even type it correctly?
So...this phone is heavy. The case makes it heavier. It's cool but yeah...there is a MAJOR learning curve especially since the damn thing keeps yelling "DROID" in a creepy sci-fi voice for, seemingly, no reason. Hopefully I'll find the reason to silence that ish soon.
I'm not all that great with change I guess and it makes me kinda nervous.
Robby is really excited that with this dashboard thingy I can turn it into a fully functional talking GPS on my dash or from the windshield. You know...if I can figure it out. Guess I'll have to print out the damn manual on my own printer using my own paper and ink.
Ink ain't cheap. ESPECIALLY when you are a notorious re-writer of your own ish. *sigh*
Why didn't I get an iPhone? Yall already know why. I have a personal vendetta against AT&T and just couldn't bring myself to do it. As soon as Verizon gets the iPhone...I'll get it but as log as AT&T has it...hell no.
The Motorola Droid is sexy and sleek but it's sexiness is heavy and the Verizon service comes with a SIGNIFICANT cost increase in my mind's eye. The Robinator thinks it's worth it and that I'll get it in no time. Yeah...unh...huh...
UPDATE! Mr. Abiodun contacted me and states someone else might have been using his account to send spam emails regarding "business opportunities." Since this is probable...I'm cool but nope...we're not ABOUT to be friends nor do I need his phone number to call him. Seriously.
