So...if you visited the site this weekend you saw that one of my photos was pirated by Radio One / Black Planet and used in the MOST INSULTING WAY POSSIBLE to a woman who loves, cherishes and RESPECTS her husband more than anything in the world. Question From SIP
It was brought to my attention by someone who reads their site, Elev8, and this site as well. The person has been reading my site long enough to know that I do NOT give permission for my image to be used to ANYONE so they let me know.
By the way...again...THANK YOU.
So...I went to the site and saw it with my own two eyes and then I did some research and found the names and email addresses to whom I needed to contact with a tongue-in-cheek version of a Cease and Desist letter:
Dear Michelle, Dan and Lisa:
It has been brought to my attention that you are using my image of which I own full rights to WITHOUT PAYMENT on your site. Should you wish to continue using the image of which I own full rights to WITHOUT PAYMENT it will cost you $895 to purchase. I shall provide you with the address to mail the check should you wish to purchase for use on YOUR site as it is not YOUR picture and yet you stole it from MY site as if you took the picture.
The fact that you are selling advertising space on YOUR site makes me wonder if the cost to purchase said picture should be much MORE than $895 and I’m also wondering whether or not an attorney and Judge in a court of law would see it that way as well.
Remember...YOUR site should not have pictures from MY site. MY pictures should not EVER be on YOUR site unless, again, you have paid me $895 for said picture.
The attached screenshots are of your site with my photo.
Don’t let this happen again or I shall forward to an attorney to deal with. Radio One and Cathy Hughes should know better. If you want to include pictures on YOUR site where you are making money made from advertisers you need to have an account with a stock photo service or PAY.PEOPLE.FOR.PICTURES.
P.S. A courtesy call or email once it has been removed is in order. I’d hate to have to actually CHECK to see if either of you did the right thing. Sheesh...
See what I go through? This kinda puts a MAJOR new perspective on the whole Performance Rights Act fight Radio One is currently embroiled in doesn't it?
For the life of me I don't understand why an organization as large as Radio One is would have to troll the internet to steal pictures of people who aren't celebrities mind ya. I mean...it's not expensive to use stock photo. Seriously. It's just so dang ridiculous it's crazy and it's EXTREMELY frustrating. I mean...these are the people who control the radio stations a lot of people listen to. Why in the WORLD aren't they smart enough to just simply do things THE.RIGHT.WAY?
It's not like they don't know...ya know? I mean...based solely on how hard they are fighting the Performance Rights Act you KNOW they have attorneys on retainer right? RIGHT.
I'm still so flipping annoyed that they tried this ish and even when they responded to the Cease and Desist and removed the image...I was STILL annoyed and said so. Hell...I'm sure they've gone out of their way to tell everyone to stop stealing MY pictures because I'm an azz who doesn't mind tagging someone but what about all the other people who aren't as much of an azz as I am? You think they would stop at stealing from just me?
That would be interesting indeed to find out...
In conclusion (remember when you finished EVERY research paper with that as the beginning of the conclusion paragraph(s)? LOL!), Radio One / Black Planet, bootleg azz, bunk azz, janky azz websites...STOP STEALING PEOPLE'S SHIT HELL! YALL AIN'T GOT THAT TO DO! IDJITS! AND YOU GOT THE NERVE TO HAVE CHURCH FOLK ALL UP IN ON THAT NONSENSE WITCHA THIEVING AZZES!
Monica Mingo AKA...NOT the damn one...
(Dammit...I cussed. *sigh* Oh well...)
What say you? Would you have sent a Cease and Desist? Would you have been FULLY READY to spend money to deal with their azzes come Monday morning had they not heeded your request?
SIP: Humph. Bootleg azzes...
