The older I get the more my life is dictated by convenience I find. ESPECIALLY the convenience of drive time.
I hate driving and I HATE driving to the city more than anything.
I totally wish everything I needed to do was literally around the corner from my house and, increasingly, I'm searching my area to see if there is an alternative nearby to what I need.
I'm currently sitting on the deck with swollen eyes and an itchy rash all over my face. I'm miserable but know that going to the Emergency Room isn't going to do anything other than annoy me even moreso because I'll have to pay the Emergency Room co-pay part of my insurance and I'm not trying to do that for an allergy. I'm taking Benadryl and have resigned myself to calling my dermatologist early Monday moning to go see what I need to do.
Then I thought about how far away from my home she is and I'm ike...UGH! So now I'm wondering if I should just go see my primary care doctor, who is 5 minutes away, and, if worst comes to worst...he can just send me to a dermatologist he trusts closer to our home.
That said, if he finds someone for me out here...there will only be one doctor we use who isn't in our area.
What about you? Are the majority of the doctors you use close to your home? Do you intentionally look for healthcare professionals and personal service providers closer to your home?
