I was having a conversation with a friend who was complaining about the discoloration spots on the backs of her thighs. She hates them. Like...it's the bane of her existence. She is constantly looking up ways to get them gone and has tried pretty much everything available.
She asked if I had any and I said...YUP. I also have them on my lower back and my underarms. She then asked what do I do about them.
Not a damn thing. LOL!
It's honestly not something I worry about. The times when I'm walking around with those parts of my body exposed are pretty much in the privacy of my own home and the only person that sees them is The Robinator. I mean hell...I don't see them myself cuz I'm not twisting around the mirror contorting my body trying to check if they are still there or not. They are there. They exist. Not gonna worry about it.
So she then asked what do I do when I wear a bathing suit. She asked if I felt weird knowing people can see it and I was like...um...no. When I have on a bathing suit, other people have on bathing suits too and not one of us have Photoshop perfect bodies. If they are looking that hard to notice discoloration on the backs of my thighs and lower back...they need to buy me something.
And she started laughing but I was dead serious.
Later on I had a conversation with another friend who hated that she had two toenails which were discolored. I asked had she asked her doctor or dermatologist about them and she said yes and the verdict was that nothing was wrong with her. Cool. My advice? CHILE...PLEASE! If you don't like it, paint your toenails. Simple. If someone else is staring at your toes that hard to see a slight discoloration in your toes...dammit they need to buy you something. Hell.
And she started laughing.
The thing about imperfections on our body is that there is usually something somewhere that we can do so that they aren't noticeable to others. If you have marks on your thighs you don't like, don't wear booty shorts. Scar on your upper arm...wear sleeves.
OR...do you what you want...wear what you want because you realize that you're who you are because of where you've been and nobody is paying you to be different. Stop worrying about stuff that isn't really worry-about-able. I'm not saying something is wrong with you if you do care...but I am saying that if you care too much...you might need to think about that a little bit more and figure out WHY it bothers you so much. People who love you don't care. Promises. People who point out those level of imperfections in others are bitches. Stay away from bitches.
