I had a meeting in DC last week at the Dean Wood Community Center & Library. While in wait mode, I took a walk around the facility. To say I was impressed with it is the least I could say because the place truly blew me away.
I kept asking questions because I couldn't believe it was free to the public with minimal fees for use of services like the fitness center and the pool. There was a full blown senior center with a VERY active senior population, meeting rooms, quiet rooms, computer room, etc.
And it was all free.
I walked outside and walked around a bit stopping in my tracks when I saw this:
I don't know about you but I've enjoyed watching little Miss Gabrielle Douglas fly through the air flipping and twisting and then BAM! STICK IT! This lil girl has been bringing me JOY! I love when she gives her interviews and she's all sweetly confident. I love how she is so supportive of her teammates. I love how she speaks about how much she loves what she does and how honored she is to represent our country in the Olympics. When she's kinda wobbly...I'm holding my breath and breathing hard, praying she recovers. When she hits something just right...I am yelling at the top of my lungs. GET.IT.GABBY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHOW 'EM HOW TO DO IT! USA! USA! USA!
In short...she is QUITE impressive and I LOVE.ME.SOME.GABBY!
I read something yesterday about the 16 year old's hair that made me stop. Then I asked Mr. Google if other people were saying negative things about her hair and was FLOORED with what I found.
So yeah...I got annoyed at just how inappropriate people can be with the things they were saying about a 16 year old WORLD.CLASS.ATHLETE.
Did YOU pay more attention to her hair or to her skills and her confidence in her ability?
Did you hear others ridiculing the child because of her hair?
My mommy-in-law/mommy-in-life and my sister-in-law/sister-in-life came for a quick visit and I wanted to get some pictures of them together with The Robinator out and about.
When I woke up on Saturday morning, it was obvious I was having an allergic reaction to something so I decided I'd be in as few pictures as possible cuz seriously...nobody wants to memorialize a straight up allergic reaction that way. LOL!
We struck out and hit up a few of the more scenic places near our home and I was able to snap some really good pictures of them and the VeggieBee even got a few with me in them where I didn't look TOO puffy faced even though I was puffy faced indeed.
One thing I've realized is that I really like taking pictures of people and I totally enjoy their reactions when they see an awesome pic of themselves. It makes me wonder if they ever know how truly beautiful they really are.
My sneakers make me happy. LOL!
I think I'm going to get me some photo editing software so I can do stuff to pictures and make them even more beautiful. Does anyone have any suggestions for an amateur photo taker? Nothing too, too technical mind you...but just something I can use that doesn't cost a lot.
I love mother-daughter pictures. Especially when they are color coordinated!
This is my dear, dear, friend. She's been through so much recently and this profile shows her strength. Seriously.
Jaru is surveying the Easter egg decorating center.
The very thought of an Easter BASKET when you're 13 made E shudder so he got an Easter JAR. LOLOLOLOL!
A 13700 Easter basket!
Play clothes! LOL! #OldSkoolMama
Of course he wouldn't let me take a REAL pic of him.
My Bella. Isn't she perfect?
Another of my "Huxtable family" friends. LOL! SO PERFECT!
Don't be fooled. She has no use for flowers. LOL!
Looking like her daddy with hair. LOL!
I love her.
He loves her too.
My Becca brought me a Georgetown Cupcake. Red Velvet! Okay...so she brought enough for all. I just wanted to be special!
A tabletop terrarium! This is lavender!
Sage! I searched high and low for small pots and couldn't find any. These are sugar containers I found for $2.99 at HomeGoods. I removed the lids and VOILA! A small pot!
I only got to take pics of those who arrived super early and I'm soooooooo sorry. Everyone looked stunning in their Easter finery and I really wish you guys could see it. I didn't post mine cuz seriously...I'll be wearing it again soon. ROFL!
The food was delicious and we had a REALLY good time hanging and laughing. Truly hope you guys had the same!
Earlier this year I was volunteering and met the loveliest man. He was soft spoken and had a wonderful personality. Just cool, funny and had a FABULOUS smile.
He sent me a Facebook friend request and I was even more impressed with the person he was. He did a lot of volunteering, was exceptionally positive...just a good, good dude.
I enjoyed knowing him.
A couple of months ago I received a friend request from a woman I didn't know. I had a really good friend in common with them so I figured hey...if they know them I prolly know them too so I accepted the request without doing too much looking around. I remembered later that I'd never looked around at her profile when I saw her name in my feed so I clicked and read the following:
onefromphilly had a FABULOUS Fall Wine PAR-TAY on Saturday and I took my camera. Why? I'd just finished reading a book about shooting outside, Robby hates posing for me, and I KNEW my friends would be looking CA-YOOT!
How did I know this? Cuz they ALWAYS look CA-YOOT!
Check out my FAVORITE pics from Saturday. The colors are absolutely PHENOMENAL!
We call her Brutiful. Why? Because...in all the times we've known each other we have NEVER seen her dressed DOWN. Like...she is always, ALWAYS ready. Hair did, makeup did, nails did, everything did. To me she looks like Barbie's Black friend. Her eyes and cheekbones are 2.Die.4! Skin? FLAWLESS!
Her eyes are deceptive because she truly looks so sweet but baaaaaaaaby...behind that gorgeous smile is a brain that is calculating and intuitive. Always working. I seriously imagine a hamster in a wheel in her head always whirling even when she's sleeping. LOL!
As you guys know our G-Baby started being really serious about BEING MORE VAIN and made some changes to her lifestyle. She works out regularly, makes better food choices and is taking more time out for herself.
When I met G-Baby I loved her on the spot. She has one of those genuine personalities and truly is one of the best people I have come to consider framily.
Yesterday she posted some pictures online and one picture really stood out to me. Not necessarily based on what she was wearing but HOW she was wearing it. Shoulders thrown back, head held high, gorgeous smile with a PURELY confident look on her face. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!
