Those of you who STAY ready and have a few extra pounds on you...where do you shop? What stores cater to your sense of uncompromising fashion? In department stores...which designers are the ones you go-to?
I was recently visiting one of my favorite websites for purchasing the lil' mamas' clothing and I saw this swimsuit advertised for toddlers and little girls. Is it just me (I tend to be conservative in the swimsuit department for our girls) or is this a bit much for a toddler swim suit? It looks more like lingerie to me. Why would someone make this? And why would someone by it? o_O
I bought this dress (attached) last summer, but wasn’t comfortable with how it fit me. I loved it and was already getting in shape so I decided to hold on to it. I have since lost the weight and toned up well so I tried the dress on yesterday and it looks so good on me! Could you ask the tribe to share what colors (if any at all) they would put with this dress? Shoes, scarves, cardigans, etc.
I was in TJ Maxx and found this jumpsuit for $24.99. I bought it in a large so it would be totally comfy for cold days chilling at home on the sofa.
I really wasn't thinking it was going to be groundbreaking or anything...it just looked all comfy, warm and toasty.
I put it on this morning and tucked them into my shearling slipper boots (yes...the ones I spilled gumbo grease on one of last year and tried to clean them but the color on the toe of the greasy one stayed dark and still is which The Robinator HATES, HATES, HATES!...ROFL!) and I am over here in 7TH.MOON.DOG.HEAVEN!!!!!!!!!
So I decided to look online and see if I could find them in other colors and I found them on Amazon, but for the full price. I don't know if I'd pay $52 for them but then again I might cuz they are seriously the softest thing I've had next to my skin in forever and the kid is LOVING.IT! Kensie Going Navajo Microfleece Jumpsuit
If you hit up TJ Maxx today, go see if you can find some. I PROMISE you won't be disappointed. SIP's honor.
I bought this dress on Saturday for $89.99. I left it in the bag. Why? Cuz that was the original cost of the dress and I bought it at Ann Taylor Loft who are WELL.KNOWN for having something on sale the very next day. They only had one in my size and I wasn't about to leave it there cuz I've been looking for something like this. I'll have to wear a full slip with it to make it work right and add a hot belt...but I'm thinking it's gonna be a cute fall addition to a Saturday night dinner date with my guy.
I've been looking online to see when it's going to go on sale and VOILA! It went on sale today for 40% off.
A few weeks ago The Robinator and I had an adventure. After purging out our closets, I had a GINORMOUS stack of clothing I never wore, could no longer fit or would probably never wear again. So...we decided to sell them at our neighborhood flea market that our neighbor told us about and baaaaaaaaaaby...it was fun!
I actually made a pretty good chunk of money IN MY OPINION (The Robinator differs in opinion because he calculates from how much I spent on something as opposed to how much I sold it for SHEESH! LOL!) and it was fun! I met a lot of cool, interesting people and really...it was something totally cool to do.
I got there on time which meant I was 2 hours late because all the flea market people in the know had lined up 2 HOURS BEFORE START TIME to get the best locations. I decided to stay off the beaten path under some trees so The Robinator could have some shade and it ended up working out well. The people who came over by us were serious shoppers and not just people who would buy anybody's old junk.
But I want to tell yall about this one woman.
See...I'm not about to haggle with anyone over $5. Seriously. If I'm selling a dress I only rocked once and paid $350 for to you for $35...TRUST me...I'm not about to haggle with you over $5. Don't ask me will I take $30 cuz I'm not. Truth be told I'd rather give it away for free to someone I know will appreciate it than give it to you for $5 less than what I'm asking for.
Now...I know that's not a popular stance among flea market shoppers but there were more than a few women who passed by, recognized the quality of the items I was selling and damn near broke their necks trying to buy what I had to sell. Like...women were grabbing ish and holding it in their hands before they even looked at it good just to make sure nobody else got it while they were deciding. SIDE.EYE.
N E WAY...
There was this DRESS that everyone tried to get me to drop the price down by $5 for and it started getting annoying cuz really...the dress wasn't cheap. This one chick annoyed me so much I seriously stopped talking to her. Like...
Her: (after 10 minutes of haggling with me) So you won't take $35? I'll pay you $35.
SIP: *CRICKETS* *BLINK*
Her: I have it right here. $35. Just $5 less than what you're asking for.
SIP: *CRICKETS* *BLINK*
I SERIOUSLY STOPPED TALKING TO HER AND HIT HER WITH AN IGNORE!
There was this one woman who, for whatever reason, made me take notice of her. She was looking at a dress in a size 10 that I purchased and never took to get altered so I never wore it. I bought the dress in that size so it would sweep the floor in length but it was huge on me. Well...I just never followed through with getting it fixed. This woman looked at the dress and the look in her eye was like she was daydreaming about wearing the dress. I was selling the dress for $40 but when she asked me how much it cost, for whatever reason...I told her $20.
And I saw her eyes close and she reluctantly put the dress back.
She walked away.
About thirty minutes or so later I saw her at the end of the sidewalk counting money looking toward my area and then...she took a seat kinda near my table but not too close.
I didn't know then that people pass back through the tables where they liked stuff so they can see if anything was marked down lower. Now I know she was posted up waiting to see if she could get the dress for less money.
I got pretty busy and was laughing and talking to people enjoying the beautiful Fall day. The Robinator was in charge of the money so I'd make a deal, he'd get the money and I'd keep talking to people.
I moved the dress the lady was looking at.
When she made her move I didn't see her at first and she was going through the rack looking for the dress. By the time I saw her, she looked disappointed that she missed out on the dress and yall...she just looked whupped.
Me: Hey! I was wondering if you were going to come back. Here...I have something for you.
And I handed her the dress.
She asked me how much it was and I put my hand on her arm and told her that I hope she wasn't offended but I wanted to gift the dress to her. I told her I'd never wore it and where I purchased it from. I even told her how much it originally cost. I told her that with her build and coloring the dress would look AMAZING on her and I hope she'd accept the dress as a gift because it would make me happy and I always do what I want to make me happy.
She opened her mouth and then closed it not really knowing what to say.
And then she hugged me.
SIP: WHOA STRANGER LADY AT THE FLEA MARKET!!!!!!!!!
And yall know I ain't really no hugging kinda gal with folks I don't know like that...but I hugged her back.
She thanked me, folded her dress up neatly and put it away in her bag.
And my heart was warmed that the look she'd had when she originally picked up the dress was back. She looked like she'd found THE DRESS.
Other women standing around started looking at me like they were about to get something for free and SIP handled that swiftly.
SIP: Aiight...I'm nice to strangers once a year and that was my one time. The rest of yall gonna pay.
And they all laughed and kept shopping.
I've walked around feeling good about the look on her face behind that dress for a while now because it truly made me feel good. I hope she rocks it to something FABULOUS and I hope she feels like the belle of the ball while there. I hope that dress is magic to her and serves to turn some ish around for her be it simply the way she sees herself knowing how good she looked in THE DRESS.
Hey...I can dream right? Right.
SIP: Daydream too...
Tell the truth...has a dress ever made you feel better about things? You know...thinking about the way you look in the dress?
I wash this top probably twice a week so I can wear it. Like...I've fished it out of the hamper and washed it solo before that's just how much I love it. I found it at TJMaxx for like $24.99 and immediately started looking around for other tops by this brand and came up short. It has a built in sports bra and it's so comfy, flattering and cool! And I LURVE the bright orange color that you can't see here because my laptop camera is tripping. LOL!
I checked out their website and haven't found anything even remotely as cute as this one but I'll keep looking for this brand when I'm out and about. MPG Sports
What's the last thing you scored at TJMaxx or Marshall's that really made you happy?
Do YOU have any item of clothing you reach for time and time again because you LOVE it?
As soon as my Hudson Ferris Flare jeans are dry...I'm looking for them to wear. They are seriously my most comfortable, flattering pair of jeans and I rocks them often because of how they look and feel.
Who makes the jeans you always look for first when you want to wear your FAVORITE jeans? How long have you had them?
I needed to escape my nurse last week so I rolled out and ended up at Marshall's. I've been looking more in the junior sections for casual clothes because they have cute, funky options. Like...I ALWAYS find a fun shirt there.
I never really tried on the pants because I know I'm shaped "differently" from mainstream America. I saw all these cute colored jeans and, since I'd been looking for a pair of orange jeans, decided to try on a pair. They fit sooooooo cute and I was so excited.
Then...I looked at the price.
Yup...the jeans I'm wearing in this picture were only $16.99.
I mean...they are definitely not a premium blend and won't last for long at all but hey...how often will I wear orange jeans anyway? I'm thinking once a blue moon.
Recently I wore a dress I'd yet to wear that I like. The dress has been in my closet for a minute...I just hadn't rocked it yet.
I went to two thingys the night I wore the dress and I tried my DAMNEDEST to not be in pictures wearing the dress because I was trying to "save" the dress for something else. LOL!
Then...I started wondering if other people did that too? You know...try not to let their friends take pics of them out and about wearing something so it doesn't seem like they are wearing the same thing over and over again in pictures.
Am I the ONLY crazy person who thinks like this?
Oh yeah...someone asked me what I did with this dress the other day:
Well...I didn't feel right returning it even though a lot of the flowers fell off as I was wearing it so it has been banished to the closet of unintentional one use dresses. LOL! I know many of you would have done the same.
I wore this dress in LA last week. It fits me really well and I was happy with the dress. At least I was happy UNTIL I started finding those flowers falling off the dang dress. Yup...no less than 5 flowers fell off the dress as I was wearing it because there is like this thin thread holding all of the flowers in place.
So...I've rocked the dress and been photographed in the dress. With my track record...I might never wear the dress again.
BUT I DID WEAR THE DRESS.
So...what would YOU do? Would you take the dress and the 5 flowers which fell OFF the dress and return the dress?
As far as clothing goes...I don't buy bottoms from Target. I can always find tank tops and t-shirts there but bottoms are a no-no other than workout tights. The waist is far too big when I try on the size that fits my butt and, if they are pants, they are usually too short.
Dresses are kinda the same with the waist. The waist is just too big on me and not flattering at all.
So I stopped even considering their bottoms years ago.
Not too long ago I was in the store and saw this skirt:
It was only $14.99 so I bought it. It's super light t-shirt-y-ish so I figured it would be perfect to throw on with a tank top. Since it was one of those roll down bands...I knew I could wear it on my hips and not my waist.
Yall...I LURVED IT! And have since bought every color I could find. The great thing about the band, on me, is that I didn't have to roll it and just pulled it straight down over my hips and butt for a pretty nice fit if I do say so myself ESPECIALLY after I washed it! WHOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO! GO ME!
DOING THE HAPPY DANCE!
They are so cool and comfortable and light. I feel like I'm wearing pajamas! LOL!
What was YOUR last Target clothing purchase that made you happy?
I bought it a couple of months ago and loved the length of it. Super long in an extra small even on my size 5'9" frame. I loved the fit and shape of it.
Last night, I washed it according to the instructions with my still-fancy-to-me washer on the special hand wash cycle.
It shrunk in length by a good FOOT.
I have it spread out to dry flat and I'm going to fold it up neatly and take it back over to Banana Republic with the worst stink eye the world has ever seen. I don't want to hear ish about my no longer having the receipt. I'm not getting back less than what I paid for it.
AND NO I DON'T WANT ANOTHER ONE IF I CAN NEVER, EVER, EVER WASH IT.
Anything like this ever happened to YOU?????????????
I found this the shopper tote bag version of this at TJ Maxx for $12.99. It is so well made it's ridiculous. Whenever I'm going somewhere and will need my computer and I'm not going to be doing a lot of walking...you know...just in the car, out the car...I use it to carry my computer, notebook, chargers, etc.
I found it where the gift bags hang so look out for one if you see them cuz they are seriously awesome!
