I'm sorry but I'm just NOT the kind of Black person who would be offended by a fried chicken lunch during Black history month. The thought seriously makes me giggle uncontrollably.
But I'm also the kind of Black person who didn't think them Joe dudes were trying to call Dr. King a coon either. *sigh*
It's so disheartening that so many people latch onto stoopit stuff to get pissed about. When I see it it reminds me that people like that probably don't have much "breadth" to their lives because if they did...they could see more of the big picture and the major thing about a lot of dumb people is that they never see the big picture...they only have tunnel vision that relates to the stereotypical "issues" they present at whim.
I'm also not the kind of Black person who is going to sit here and say that I'm giving our President a pass when it comes to criticism. Um...no. But I will get offended if you believe someone else with the stereotypical presidential "appearance" would have done a better job.
Race issues are compelling in that there is definitely a distinction between who thinks what is racist within shared skin colors. The people who would think a chicken plate was racist would not be folks I'd attempt to discuss anything of relevance with. Those same people will be at a Mexican restaurant for the margarita specials on Cinco de Mayo or the beer specials on St. Patrick's Day without a thought for the hypocrisy of their meal based on their February outrage.
People kill me by perpetuating their OWN negative stereotypes and those are the people who scare me the most because they begin BELIEVING that ish with all of them.
Al Queda started out by being a bunch of ignorant, uneducated people mad at the world because they realized they weren't in control of ish but arrogance led them to believe they SHOULD be. They never put into play the reason they weren't in control of ish was because they didn't value education and take advantage of it. They never recognized that in order to have the faith of their people to lead them...they'd have to earn the right to lead. So? They took it. Through the only thing ignorant people who realize they don't have what it takes to lead by respect would use. Violence. And...since they had no answer for the questions regarding WHY...they blamed it on their brand of god's desire.
Al Queda started out being a bunch of dumb people who realized they had nothing to offer by way of solutions so they just started bullying people...getting loud...and yelling all the damn time...waving their holy book. They used fear to control.
Al Queda grew on their own home front and became a terror to their own people and then...to others.
Sarah Palin (that _____) is playing with fire. She's not smart enough to understand that people without "breadth" to their life will end up falling back on the only thing they know they can do. They know they are outsmarted and out numbered and they know that no one is going to waste their time arguing with fools either so they get louder and bolder because folks with sense really ain't about arguing with fools bout nothing of substance when all they yell back is YOU BETCHA!

Sarah Palin is getting paid $100,000 to do what she does best. Rally those who don't have the "breadth" of life that allows them to see the big picture. So what there are others far smarter who are STILL having a tough time running the country...we can do it because in our mind we LOOK like we should do it.

The choice of photo for the cover of this week's Newsweek is unfortunate. When it comes to Sarah Palin, this "news" magazine has relished focusing on the irrelevant rather than the relevant. The Runner's World magazine one-page profile for which this photo was taken was all about health and fitness - a subject to which I am devoted and which is critically important to this nation. The out-of-context Newsweek approach is sexist and oh-so-expected by now. If anyone can learn anything from it: it shows why you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, gender, or color of skin. The media will do anything to draw attention - even if out of context.
