Everyone is well aware of what is going on in Boston today, I'm sure. You can't get away from it and well...maybe you shouldn't. I like to be informed. I just don't care for the constant talking about nothing pretending you're talking about something. And...I don't like seeing pictures of bloody and/or dead Americans.
This morning I heard that Boston is on a straight up for real lock down and two things popped up in my head.
1. I knew that shooting at MIT last night before we went to bed was related.
2. Wait...WASN'T PRESIDENT OBAMA IN BOSTON JUST YESTERDAY FOR THE MEMORIAL SERVICES AND THESE TERRORISTS ARE RUNNING AROUND WEARING BOMBS AND SHIT?????????
And the latter REALLY disturbed me.
The manhunt for the 19 year old terrorist is ongoing and I'm confident they are going to get him. They are not playing around. I feel like the terrorist is going to try and go out with a bang but honestly...I hope they catch him alive because he probably has so much more information that would be useful.
See look...you've seen the pictures. They weren't trying to hide. They looked pretty confident in those pictures. For them to be that way while pulling this off and then carjacking people and trying to use their debit card for cash and robbing a 7-11 sounds to me like somebody didn't uphold their side of the plan and left them hanging so they were desperate.
I want the authorities to know who those people are too.
This is the world we live in where these people are sleeper terrorists in plain view and well...there is nothing we will ever be able to do about that. When we find some of them, however, we should try and find as many of them as possible and eradicate those cells.
I was talking to some people recently being polite. The subject turned to politics and I was about to bail because I wasn't in the mood for a fight with strangers and people I don't know well. One of the men was someone I'd stereotyped as being a Romney supporter in my head and he said something that surprised all of us:
"First time I voted Democrat was in 2008 and that was for Barack Obama.
I officially switched parties two years ago because of what the Tea Party has done to the Republican party. They don't represent me or the way me and my family live our life and I'm not about to let them think they do. The Tea Party ruined the Republican party."
Basically he thinks the same way I think, the Republican Party of 2000 is NOT the Republican Party of 2012.
I'm a woman who believes in pro-life for ME and pro-choice for others.
I believe women should have access to early detection screening for cancer.
I believe if you're sick, you shouldn't be left to fend for yourself.
I believe big business needs to be regulated so they are not allowed to rob our economy.
I believe the percentage of taxes you pay should be the same across the board.
I believe big businesses who make billions in profits should pay the same percentage of taxes that small business owners pay.
I believe companies who send jobs overseas in order to pay less in salaries should be dealt with appropriately.
I believe people should be able to marry who they love.
I believe our education system needs a major rehaul.
I believe college kids need much more help paying for college.
I searched for the origin of this picture and can't find it so it is probably photoshopped. I remembered the outfit and thought she'd simply recycled it and gave us some curly hair to ga-ga over and posted the pic because it made me happy.
That said...this is one HECK of a good photoshop job! LOL!
Yesterday we attended the Ravens' football game. We were very excited and happy. You know...looking forward to the game.
Earlier last week...we became aware of a credible threat to mark the anniversary of 9/11.
Yesterday was 9/11.
And here is why it was such a big deal to us...
Because this administration hasn't slammed us with the words "credible threat" whenever they need a big political pull. Seriously. They haven't played that game. They haven't cried wolf and tried to keep us all messed up using fear mongering.
So we took that seriously and we were in hightened security mode while there because that's what we were SUPPOSED to do.
See...they get threats every.single.day. They could very well put that out there every.single.day. But they don't. They do their jobs to ensure the threats are contained and handled. THEY DO THEIR JOBS.
So yeah...when they put it out there...knowing they don't use it to make folks tow some line...I listen.
And so should you.
And we will ALL be safer because they use this authority WISELY.
Well...it was a rough night politicially for Democrats and an even ROUGHER morning listening to and reading all the analysis and stats. We've sufficiently gone BACK in time. ROFL! (I laugh so I can't cry.)
The winners, the losers, Boehner vowing to destroy the Healthcare bill, etc.
I blame Obama.
I blame him for doing all that damn pandering to the Republicans and acting like he has a brain in his head instead of fighting dirty, slinging shit and kicking azz and taking names.
He proved that you just can't do it the way you SHOULD be able to do it.
You can only do it the fugged up way.
And being in politics...he should have KNOWN this. You can't be a good guy in politics man.
I've never attended a rally for anything if I'm honest with myself. See...seems to me that all of the important rallies I would have attended have been dealt with far before I was old enough to participate. There are things, of course, that I'm in support of and against but I really haven't ever felt compelled to leave my home to join other people who felt as I did about a certain something.
I didn't support the war in Iraq from the beginning and yet...I had no intention of joining folks marching against it.
I'm against racism of any form but...since I've been an adult I haven't even thought about heading somewhere to march with folks regarding.
I support gay people but nah...I'm not about to hold up a corner of their rainbow flag and march with them.
But I make my voice heard in other ways and with my vote.
When I first heard of the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear it immediately spoke to me. The smart comedy coupled with sensibility just appealed to who I am as an American. EPIC SIGNAGE was the mantra from the start and I loved the thought of participating in a forum where the voices of people like myself would be heard and our signs would be posted all over the internet and media as well. I loved showing COLLECTIVELY just how flipping DUMB folks think this tea party nonsense is and I liked that people from all over connected with it as well on the same level.
As I was there looking around I felt really, really good knowing I was around "MY KINDA PEOPLE." People who used their brains when it came to their politics and weren't afraid to tag someone with FACTS and not talking points. FACTS.
See...facts give you a calming sense of knowing you're right. Facts make SENSE and you're able to think about them organically. Talking points don't provide you with an opportunity for further conversation because there is usually a big azz PERIOD after spewing out a talking point you heard from an idiot because there is nothing to support it so there is pretty much nothing left to say after.
Except for a whole bunch of laughter at the idiocy of it all.
Yesterday I looked around at people who were like me in all skin colors and ages. I loved the older White people, the middle aged Muslims in traditional Muslim attire, the young Black people, the Hispanics, the Asians, the Christians, the Jewish, the kids, the people in wheelchairs, etc. They all made me feel good.
Folks came from all over the United States to be with other people who are just like them. Who believe as they do and, who wanted to show a different side of Americans in the media because we'd decided there was truly too dang many images of stoopit Americans out there making it seem as if they were the pulse of what the majority of us are feeling.
I had some of the best conversations yesterday than I've had in a long, long time. Conversations with perfect strangers who were smiling, polite, smart and just fun as hell.
I had a good time man...a VERY good time. It was a good feeling can you tell?
We can't let them paint our country in ways we would never, ever, EVER support. We can't let them make it seem as if we are all out there supporting hate. We gotta let folks know with our voices and our votes that we are serious when it comes to our future.
We're not all idiots and we don't all speak in talking points.
One of your FB friends responds with this comment:
I personally don't like the fact that his wife and children are
vacationing in Spain when people in the country he manages are out of
jobs and homes. I don't like the fact that he is vacationing at all.
Probably won't vote for him again.
