Online Dating Scenario...

You've been online dating.

You get a wink from someone.

You wink back.

They send you an email.

You send one back.

You email back and forth for a couple of days.

On Day 3...you get this email from the person:

My Dear,
If only I could have come up with the right words to describe the depth of this beautiful feeling that I have for you, I would have whispered them to you the first time i saw your profile on blackpeoplemeet. The best thing that I can do is to show you now.

I love you so much, Sweetie. You are the best thing that ever happened to me. You are like the best poetry ever composed, the best song ever played, the best picture ever painted. I never thought that someone like me could get so lucky!

I love you more than my life, more than my world. I love you more and more each day and that is the most wonderful feeling any man can ever hope to experience.

I have no other words to describe the way you make me feel. No words, no actions could even come close. I believe that Ronald Regan said it best to Nancy in a letter, telling her only that, "I more than love you". Their love was a strong love, surviving everything, even death. I believe that even after his passing, Nancy felt Ronald's love for her raining down upon her. That is why she has always seemed at peace after the death of such a truly loving husband. That is the love that I feel for you.

Thank you, What more can a man say to the woman who opened her heart to him, allowing him to feel the warmth of her love across the great distance that separates them? You truly have no idea what I feel for you.

Forever Yours

What do you do?

Scenario...What if Brian Wedgeworth, Brian Lapsley, Brian Jones did this really?

Picture 10 Yall know how I love some WHAT IF scenarios.  See...I hear about these things and I wonder what someone else would do if they were in the shoes of who it supposedly happened to.  It's always cool to see the different responses of folks and see how they would handle said situation IF IT REALLY HAPPENED.

This particular what if scenario is one such that if you choose to copy and paste it onto your blog, post the link on your Facebook and Tweet it on Twitter so that others may chime in as well as to what they would do if something like this ever happened to them...that would be cool as a white box fan.

Cuz you know...if stuff like this is true...then the more folks who know about it...the better.

Right?

Right.

All Four Seasons

BonVoyage2x2

My Grandmother is quick to tell young folks that you can't say you know someone until you've been with them for all four seasons, been sick with them, have them be sick with you and take a trip together.

When I was young and dumb I didn't get that trip together thing but now that I'm old and dumb I know exactly what she means.  See...when you're traveling with someone both of you are away from your comfort zone.  Neither of you are around family and friends and you're usually with each other for the majority of the day when you're traveling with them.  You're sharing a television, a small bathroom, etc.  It's like...yall against the world.  A world where no one knows yall and yall gotta do whatcha gotta do to survive.

Together.

I got yo back...you got mine.

What say you?  Do YOU believe in the taking a trip thing?  Did you ever travel with someone and was extremely disappointed in how they were on the trip?

Single Men are DUMB

Sheesh!  What in the heck do YOU think is wrong with them?  Where in the HELL are they coming up thinking their way of thinking is or should be LAW?  WHO IN THE HELL IS ADVISING THESE IDJITS ON WOMEN?  LIFE?  AND LIFE WITH A WOMAN?

DUDE...REALLY????????????

Ultimately

You asked ultimatum_0.larger

Do you know of any women who gave a guy an ultimatum to marry her and it worked out?  Instead of an ultimatum...what should a woman do when she wants to get married to someone she has been dating for a couple of years and he's not making a move in that direction?

Commercial Break

CreoleInDC:  it's the same old same old
she meets a guy
gets too wrapped up in him too quick
Concerned Friend of Friend: yea they were pretty hot and heavy quick
CreoleInDC:  then she starts chipping away at him once she realizes she didn't know him well enough to be all up in her bed that quick
it's the same shit
different guy
Concerned Friend of Friend:  sigh
CreoleInDC:  so many women are just like this cuz they are in a rush to get something they think will last a lifetime
as if rome were built in a day
that is all
Concerned Friend of Friend:  i think the guy knows she's desperate tho
CreoleInDC:  of course he does.  she's been jumping through hoops for him to prove she's different
Concerned Friend of Friend: i remembered when u said she wears her desperation like a second skin...it just made me sad cuz she really does
CreoleInDC:  well...if she doesn't think so neither you nor i can make her believe different.  Every time I hear of a new "the one" I hope, wish and pray it's the last one and that he's TRULY the one...cuz only then will she stop playing herself.
Concerned Friend of Friend:  I'm sad
CreoleInDC:  The saddest thing about it is that she is CERTAINLY not the only one...*sigh*  That's what's really sad.

Solo Sans Ropas

Hmmmmm...so this dude wrote in to Prudence about his wife having a problem with how many times he handled his own sans ropas business.  Stroke of Midnight

What say you?  What would you tell the wife?  The husband?

Is the ring that big a deal?????

Who do you think the engagement ring is the bigger deal to?  The man or the woman?  Think REALLY hard about it before you answer.  Why do you think it's important to the man?  Why do you think it's important to the woman?

June 15, 2009

Question...

If you WANTED an engagement ring...would it be hard for you to be excited about getting engaged WITHOUT getting an engagement ring?

From Honest:

Cuz when I say it...yall ain't got shit to say.  This is the EPITOME of so many single women I know and "know" that want a relationship that it's ri-damn-diculous.  Like...they should read this and get mad thinking it's about them SOLELY.  Then?  They should get their mind right.  Put in the work.  If you keep on doing the same shit you'll keep on getting the same results.  You oughta be tired of that shit by now.  GET OVER IT!  I don't agree with everything the author is trying to get at but I understand where she's coming rom.  As I said in my comment on this article the day it hit the innernets last week, I wouldn't have dated our president because he smokes.  That is a deal breaker to me.  I straight jock a mind but that smoking ish erases it all for me.  Seriously.

Lazy Men...and the women who love them...

Homer_simpson
Get up.

Eat breakfast.

Go to work.

Come home.

Watch tv.

Eat dinner.

Go to sleep.

REPEAT

Unfortunately I know of a lot of men who are lazy partners.  They don't help out around the house nor do they help much with the children.  They believe that because they go to work and make the money...they are exempt.

They go to work functions or sporting events...but no date night with their wives.

They take out the garbage but wouldn't dream of washing a dish.

They expect their clothes to be ready and their food to be cooked.

Oh yeah...and lunch too.

It's like they only get coupled up to have a support team to do their bidding.

Um...yeah.

Now they don't mind if YOU do something.  In fact...they WANT you to do stuff.

Why?

Cuz they don't want to have to see you moping around the house cuz they intend on doing NOTHING.  And nothing you can say will make them.

These men don't take off time from work.  They don't go on vacation.  They hardly ever fly.

If ever.

They'll go to the weddings, BUT ONLY IF THEY ARE FAMILY...and that's about it.

I've never understood this but prolly because it's the relationship my parents had.  Kinda.

But I've always wondered.

Where does this ish start?  Why do women allow it to go on?  Don't they realize that even if they are married...they are in essence A SINGLE MOTHER doing it all on their own?

Why is this so common?  Do YOU know any like this?  Do you understand that if a man is lazy when he's dating...he's going to be lazy when you're married to him?  Prolly even MORE so?

Has a roommate that is 13 years younger than he is.

Lives in a scary part of town to save money while in school.

Doesn't own a car.

Drive By Question

Have you ever driven by someone's house you were dating to see if they were there or to see if another car was there?  Were they there?  Was someone else there?  How did you react?  How old were you?

Yeah Right

Notmytype This guy I know has been reading my blog.  I didn't know he'd been reading my blog but it doesn't matter cuz lots of folks read that I don't know read.

It's a public blog.

So I've been knowing this guy for years and years and years but haven't talked to him in over 10 years.  If he comes up in conversation with mutual acquaintances...it's far and few between but through those few times...I've kept up with his...um...erra...SHENANIGANS.

So dude reads my blog (I said that already right?) and has seen pictures of all my FABULOUS girlfriends.

Dude sends me an email "catching up" and then...he jokingly suggests that I need to introduce him to a couple of my girls.  (You know his azz was serious right?)

Now...I have a few rules in life.

1.  I'd never buy a gift for someone that I wouldn't want myself.
2.  I'd never introduce one of my girls to someone who I wouldn't date myself based on what I know about him.

Now I'm not talking about physical stuff.  I'm talking about REAL stuff.  Real stuff that counts.  Not cuz he's shorter than I'd date, or whatever.  But REAL stuff that  makes you go...DA HELL ARE YOU SMOKING!

Humph.

Whatever.  Stay outta my inbox.

What about YOU?  Would YOU introduce your girls to someone that you knew had some serious issues, ESPECIALLY in the commitment area?  Would YOU let your girls figure it out for themselves or would you let them know why YOU wouldn't waste your time?  Is it fair to not introduce them because just because YOU wouldn't like a guy that did A, B, C, or do cuz she might not have a problem with it?

Would you date him?

41

Would you date him?

Good job.

Pretty Money

Give-us-money-we-are-pretty

I have a significant aversion to ridiculousness from men.  I think it stems from dealing with my father for so many years..  I felt like I'd had my full and knew I couldn't live with a certain kinda ish for the rest of my life.

I was having a conversation with a man who shared this gem with me:

"If a pretty woman isn't coupled up it's because she's emotionally unstable and/or too damaged. The basic thing you need to be CHOSEN is to be PRETTY.  If you are pretty...you're probably good."

And I asked him...well...in YOUR mind, what does it take for a man to have the opportunity to CHOOSE a pretty woman?

His answer?  Money.

According to him...money will get you a pass for all sorts of things as a man just as being pretty will get you a pass for all sorts of things as a woman.

What say you?

Commitmentphobe

Do you know a guy who is a great guy but just can't get over that hump to make a commitment to someone?  What is his excuse?  Does he have a VIABLE one?  Did you ever DATE this guy?  How was it?

GREAT Questions!

Dear Single Women...Hmmmmmmmmm:

Are you available? Look at your life and ask yourself if you're leaving time to meet someone. Would someone have to throw himself on the hood of your car to cross paths with you and get your attention?

How I know I'm cherished.

Ribbon_CherishedMemories

If it's a priority, make it a priority and we'll do it.

Does this tie go with this shirt?

How are these shoes with this pant?

What are you going to do today?

Are you going to be able to take the dogs out in the rain?

If you leave the house today please be careful driving.

If you get too hot, make sure you sit down immediately.

Are you feeling okay?  Did you sleep well?

I hope your houseplants don't get any bugs in them on the deck.

I'm not paying anyone to do that when I can do it myself.  I'll do it this weekend.

Thank you for packing my lunch.

Don't worry about getting me a pair of socks out of the dryer...I can do it.  Go back to sleep.

I'll call you when I get there.

I love you so much.

I heard all of this just this morning.  The Robinator takes his job as my husband pretty seriously.  He fusses, cusses, smiles, laughs, hugs, kisses and gives me noogies all in the span of 15 minutes.

I know I'm cherished.

And I love that feeling.

Mean Men.

9781846462764

I'm reading about some mean shit that men have said to women and I'm like...whoa.  As we all can probably attest to, men can get down and dirty because they seem to be able to detach from emotions pretty easily and say things to hurt us without feeling bad about it.

I remember a man telling me once that I'll never find a man to marry me because I had Princess Syndrome.  Well...at the time it hurt because I was trying to be more to his level and thought I was suppressing my Princess tendencies.  Needless to say, THAT shit didn't work out and I learned to embrace me as I am, (A PRINCESS DAMMIT!) and continued being me until I found the man who loved me exactly as I was.  Last time I lowered my damn standards that's for sure.

So there.

Punk.  (He's actually one of the two guys that would turn ashen if he ever ran into me again.  LOL!)

N E WAY...what are some of the mean things that men have said to you?  How did you react?  Any mean words from a man you were RELATED to?

Sans Ropas DON'TS!

1127864_do_not_disturb 2

As with everything there are DON'TS with sans ropas.  One came up while we were doing Word on the Curb on Tuesday which was trying to talk dirty when you're not good at it thereby messing up the mood.  Others come to mind such as don't answer the phone, don't watch tv, etc.  LOL!  Cuz you know...those are pretty basic.

What DON'TS would you advise against?

From Ex to Friend

How many exs did you remain friends with?

Dr. Yang and Dr. Red Head Choker Dude

0_66_060507_oh_washington I'm sitting here watching "Grey's Anatomy" and I'm thinking how much I don't like this storyline with Christina and choker dude.  I just don't.  Christina will never love again like she did with Isaiah's character.  LOL!

N E WAY...

The part about him not talking to his mother is straight CRAZY to me.  His mama is down the street and round the corner and he ain't going to see her?  *BLINK*  He has his mama thinking he's still in a war zone?  WHO DOES THAT????????

It made me start thinking about the only dude I dated that didn't have a good relationship with his mother.  It was rough and he ended up being an icky mess.  Looking back now I should have known better just by hearing what he had to say about his mother that he wouldn't be my kinda people ya know?

What about you?  Have you ever dated someone who didn't have a good relationship with their mother?  How'd it work out?  Were they good to you?

May 12, 2009

Drunk Dialed

Have you ever drunk dialed an ex?  Were you mortified when you realized you did?  Have you ever been drunk dialed? How'd you handle it?

Vow Renewals

Shk

What do you think about Seal and Heidi Klum renewing their wedding vows every year?  Would you want to renew your wedding vows to your current or future husband?  What year do you think YOU'D want to do it?  Would you want a big thing...or just a small immediate family only?

Non-Matching Sans Ropas Styles

Is this really a deal breaker?

From My Inbox:

I have a problem and I don't know if it is fixable. I am dating someone who is perfect in every way except for one thing. This one thing really disturbs me. I don't want to break up with him because I care a lot about him but this problem grosses me out. When we are having sex he asks me to call him daddy several times especially during the big finish. I don't like doing that and makes me feel weird. Is this a really big deal or am I making a big deal out of nothing?

Who should get the dog?

A married couple buys a dog.

The woman feeds the dog, takes him to the vet, bathes the dog.

The man walks the dog everyday twice a day and picks up the dog's poop.

The couple divorce.

How do you decide who gets the dog if both of them want it?

May 07, 2009

Happiness is...

Happiness is

It's no secret how much I love my husband.  It's no secret how much he loves me.  It's no secret that we are happy.

I've heard a lot of people talk down on marriage and I take it on a case by case basis.  If someone is down on marriage and are divorced without a relationship in sight...I understand they might be down on marriage.  If someone is down on marriage because they've never seen a successful one...I understand they might be down on marriage.

But if you come over here to the virtual 13700, I hope you start thinking differently.  I hope you see a marriage that is working.  I hope you recognize that marriage isn't a fairy tale and that it needs to be a state of mind as well as a state of being.

Marriage is cool man.

My marriage is fo sho.

Just cuz you may have some handicaps that might make you feel that marriage isn't worthy...I hope you're not letting it keep you out of the game.  If you want to be married one day...be thoughtful in your approach to dating and don't leave anything to chance with folks wondering if you want to be married one day.  Don't get stuck in that gray zone.  Let folks know that yes...one day you want to be married.  THE.RIGHT.WAY.  Let them know you ain't about to tether yourself to no one for the wrong reasons...only the RIGHT ones.

It's Spring time folks and clothing for the season is such that you're able to get your super cute on.  If you're single...go for it.  Get your cute on and date with a purpose and date RESPONSIVELY!

I want yall to have someone as perfect you as Robby is for me and vice versa.

Happiness is...LOVE.

Elizabeth Edwards and Oprah

What do YOU think of Elizabeth Edwards being so mad at the other woman but being able to forgive her husband for cheating on her?

Cheater

Would you advise a friend to confess to their spouse that they cheated on them?  Or would you tell them to keep the secret.

April 30, 2009

Hmmmmmmmmmm.....

Say you've been married for a minute.  No...scratch that...A LONG AZZ TIME.

You have a lot of kids with your ex.

You get divorced for whatever reason (cuz the scum cheated and was a drunk, yada, yada).

Do you and your ex REALLY have to wait a year before you bring someone new home?

April 29, 2009

If this was YOUR husband saying this how would YOU feel?

Um...yall know Chris be cussing and cutting up...

Hmmmmmm...

Would you go out with a guy who, before he asked you out, you thought was gay?
