I was so excited when I found out that TBS had a new show called "Gillian in Georgia." I FLEW over to TBS' website and straight DEVOURED everything I could about the program that is staring Jill Marie Jones (whom we ADORE) and has a fashion angle. Hell...I considered dressing "Sex and the City" -ish for this one ya know?
So I went to DVR it and couldn't find it on Verizon Fios. And you know I have EVERY.CHANNEL.AVAILABLE (except the nasty channels) on Fios.
And I was sooooooo confused.
Then it was brought to my attention that it was some kinda mini-series in the middle of "Meet the Browns" and I thought to myself that that information HAD to be wrong because what in the hell is a mini-series in the middle of another show? In what DISRESPECTFUL WORLD did this kind of nonsense exist in????????????????
And then I read that this was...indeed...true.
"Meet the Browns."
The show "Gillian in Georgia" is described as:
And then...we see this:
Now...I'm sure many of you are thinking as I am. You're thinking...HUH???????????
Demographics are what marketing companies use for advertising. They are used HEAVILY for television and entertainment. A study is done to show who would probably like what and vice versa. It's very seldom that a proper demographic study ISN'T done for a television show.
And yet...I'm thinking one wasn't done this time because in what flipping world would it have been agreed that the demographics for "Gillian in Georgia" was the same demographic for "Meet the Browns???????????" Seriously? I mean SERIOUSLY?
THOSE OF US WHO WERE LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS SHOW DON'T FLIPPING WATCH "MEET THE BROWNS!" AND I AM INSULTED THAT YOU THOUGHT THIS WOULD FLY! HOW DISRESPECTFUL IS THIS? HOW DISRESPECTFUL THAT IT WAS THOUGHT A GOOD IDEA TO LUMP TWO SHOWS TOGETHER LIKE THIS? WHO DOES THIS ISH? WAS "FRIENDS" HOOKED UP WITH "EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND?" HOW ABOUT "FRASIER?" HOW ABOUT "LAW AND ORDER?" WAS MONICA GELLER A GUEST STAR IN "CRIMINAL MINDS SVU??????"
It's obvious to me there was no marketing money put into this show that could have attracted people like myself who are the target audience. It's obvious to me that a great big f'em followed the discussion about the demographics study. It's obvious to me that Black people fit in one box over at TBS and that box is the one that watches "Meet the Browns."
TBS...this was a MAJOR, MAJOR FAIL. If you'd like to know what WE are like...ask us. Ask me. Send me an email to Monica.Mingo@verizon.net and we can chat about what WE would like to see. You're missing out on soooooooo many viewers it's not even funny. Viewers with money. Viewers advertisers love.
But instead...you chose the disrespectful route.
I'm so pissed I could scream. Nobody is watching fugging "Meet the Browns" hell. Not even for Jill Marie Jones (WHOM.WE.ADORE!)!
I know we've all been to some "special" weddings where "special" things have gone down. Please include them here so that we can all have a dang reference point when wondering if something is HotNESS or HotMESS when it comes to weddings.
So...yall know I have a SERIOUS issue with them dang invitations that include registry information or that ASKS FOR MONEY IN LIEU OF GIFTS. IT'S NOT APPROPRIATE TO DO...I DON'T CARE WHO DID IT...IT IS TACKY! I promise.
My all time MOST insulted at a wedding was at a destination wedding where we had to PAY to attend the reception. Yes...you heard me correctly. We had to PAY to attend the reception. I'm going to be mad about that till the day I die.
