Life or Death?

I'd like to share my response to a woman who has been with her husband of 18 years who is tormenting her and her children.  She doesn't want to leave him because he makes the most money, yada, yada, yada.  Yeah...unh huh:

Well, you could always be like my family.  My father killed my mother and then himself after years of physical and mental abuse.  My brothers and I were left to face the world alone.  My mother never wanted to leave my father because he made the money.  Well...it got her killed, him killed and my brother's and I pretty fugged up. 

I always wondered how bad it would have been for us to live with a relative or in a cheap apartment as opposed to what eventually happened.  Hopefully tonight, you too will wonder the same.
