Hey Yall! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Whatchall doing?  How's the weather out by yall?  Send me some Halloween pics!  I LURVE, LURVE, LURVE seeing folks dressed all up for Halloween!

It's a beautiful Fall day out here today and we've been expecting rain all day today but it still hasn't started.  I hope it doesn't start right at Trick or Treat time because I have an entire cauldron of candy to give out!

Have I shared with yall how much I LURVE Fall?  The colors are so beautiful to me which I why I used them throughout our home!  I'm posted up on the sofa nursing my sick and look at my view!

 

I plan on putting my leaf blower to work tomorrow on the deck for sure.  Not in the mood today.

I love this red flower trying to hold on till the last bit of warm weather leaves us!

 

I hope you are somewhere REALLY seeing the beauty around you and REALLY enjoying it.

So...carving and painting pumpkins is a messy job indeed.  Because of...I put a big, black, plastic paint tarp down stretched across some parking spaces.  Then...I put those vinyl tablecloths you get at the dollar store on top of all of those tables and tied them down with balloons from the dollar store too.

This way...all you have to do is roll em up completely and put everything in the garbage can for a quick cleanup cuz TRUST...this is MESSY!

Each table had a pack of baby wipes and a roll of paper towels as well as tins with paintbrushes in them.  I got the tins from the $1 bins at Target and there were 25 paintbrushes in a pack for $4.99 at Michael's.

The big kid's table had the carving tools in a plastic bowl in the center.  (Notice all this plastic and vinyl right?  RIGHT.  T-Monnie KNOWS KIDS.)

All of the snacks were inside and I basically played server to make sure the kids had some outside with them.  The party was just PERFECT.  It wasn't crazy, over the top and exactly what kids who want to have a messy fun time wanted. 

LOVED IT LOVED IT LOVED IT!

The kids had a blast.  I had a blast and the parents had a blast!  Afterwards we all cleaned up together and everyone was long gone and my home clean by 7:30pm. My kinda party!  Oh...and there was face painting!!!!!

I believe we should know who our neighbors are.  Some of my neighbors have lived here over 7 years and never even KNEW a lot of the people they met today.  It was just LOVELY and I was really glad that I was able to make that connection for them.  The funny thing was they all knew me.  ROFL!  "Oh yeah...we know Monica!"  Why?  Because Monica makes it a POINT to get to know who her neighbors are.  Grownups, children...et al.  Ain't nuttin wrong with knowing who you live next to and to consider them "friend."

Let's list the ones we follow to make sure we're not caught slipping.  Maybe it will help save some lives one day.

Halloween Party Planning!

In Monnie-land today has been a FABULOUS day!  I really would have made a video had I not sounded and looked soooooooo awful but since I didn't...ya just hafta take my word for it!  LOL!

First things first...pumpkins!  WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

I went to the orchard/pumpkin patch to get pumpkins!!!!!  Why?  Because I know some parents are going to forget to bring a pumpin and I'm not trying to have anyone left out!

 

So many choices!  Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!  LOVED THIS MUCHO!!!!! But I knew I wasn't going to pick this big azz pumpkin for sure.  ROFL!

 

That sucker was big as me!  Um...no.

So then I ran around and did a bunch of other shopping and headed home because my neighbor was helping me put together the BOO bags!

 

While we were putting together the BOO bags we put the kids who kept asking could they help to work cleaning the pumpkins!

 

 

 

They did a good job but I made them do it again just so they could stop asking me could they help with other preparations!  LOL!  Evil huh?  I know.

 

There are BOO bags for little kids and "cooler" bags for the 14 and overs.  LOL!  I figure they are going to show up because they keep asking all nonchalant if they are invited.  ROFL!

I went down to my basement entertainment pantry and started pulling stuff for the party.  All orange stuff, of course.  Base colors are white and silver.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Jaru and Lucy don't know yet that they are going to be gated.  Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh...don't tell them.  Parents are welcome inside because the grown up table will be inside and the kiddie table will be outside.  NO.KIDS.IN.MS.MONICA'S HOUSE!  LOL!

 

E has been briefed on his duties as a host and his mom is doing the BOMB swamp juice for the kiddies!  T-Monnie is making Bloody Eye Sangrias so YEAH BOY!  It's going to be BIG.POPPING at 13700 for Halloween!

I'm going to pick up the cupcakes tomorrow and I have a few more things on my list that I didn't get today:

Tealights

Apples

Juice Boxes

1/2 pint water bottles

Cookies

Black taper candles

I'm VERY excited!  We'll have painted mini pumpkins as well as carved big pumpkins.  Should be FABULOUS!

I was walking OUT of the mall and a woman was walking TO the mall with an empty stroller. She looked normal so I said...

Me: You missing something?
Her: (puzzled look to my pointing at empty stroller). AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH! ( Took off running WITHOUT her hot shit azz stroller back to where she came from. )
Me: (push stroller with me in direction she ran and find her hysterically clutching a child that is crying because his mama is losing it)

I calm her down...tell her he was alone for probably one minute and that I was sure he was just fine.

I hope she forgives herself but I'm thinking hey...that prolly happens more often than we know about huh?

Randoms of a Creole Princess

I got a new wrap yesterday that makes me really happy. 

Ricola sugar-free throat drops are the business.

I played my Professor Layton game for an hour last night.

I'm REALLY exited about the party.  I LOVE HALLOWEEN!

(Yall know this is really MY party right?  ROFL!)

My lounging pjs are too comfy to take off right this minute.

I have two Michael's coupons that I shall be using today.  Separately.  Like...I will go through the line...get out...and go back.

Seriously.  40% off ain't no joke.

A neighborhood kid came yesterday to tell me she couldn't come to the party because she didn't have a pumpkin.  You should have seen her face when I informed her that I have an extra pumpkin just for her because I know some parents might forget since they are really busy working to take care of their family.

She made me feel good.

I just remembered I need to get those half pint water bottles for the party.

I was gonna bake cookies but I'm going to just buy them from Sam's instead.  I am NOT in the mood to bake batches of cookies.

The adult table is going to be FABULOUS!  I'm serving bloody eyeball sangrias!  LOL!

I need to hit Papyrus up to get some shiny wrapping paper for the table.

I need new slippers but haven't found any that I like.  How is this possible you wonder?  Heck...I wonder too.  I need counseling.

I got really upset this morning over bread.  HORMONAL MUCH?

There aren't many crafts in Martha's craft book that I'd try.  Hell...I'd just buy it already made.

I'm thinking about stopping my text alerts from "The Washington Post."  Sometimes they are really relevant like when one of our soldiers are killed and I immediately stop what I'm doing to pray for their families but most times it's a bunch of nothing.  Imma need someone to explain to them what is RELEVANT BREAKING NEWS.

I saw a 3 year old with a relaxer yesterday and I was FLABBERGASTED.

There are two independent movies out next week that I have GOT to go see.

My god sister is getting married  and she needs to do a complete
intimate overhaul but doesn't know where to start.  I don't either
because I'm a  t-shirt and sweatpants kind of girl when it comes to
lounging around the house and even sleeping in the bed.  I've decided to
makeover my unmentionables too after realizing I have not one pair of
"real" pajamas - just a drawer full of stretched out t-shirts, sweat
pants, yoga pants and shorts.

Where can we get some cute sets and separates from, including robes and
slippers?  Vicky Secrets is everyone's first thought, but I feel like a
pole dancer just from walking around in there ... at least the ones in
my area.  It's like men just stare at you when you walk out trying to
figure out what's in the bag!  We want comfortable but cute.... her for
her soon to be husband... and me because I'm just worth it.  I've seen
you mention Gap Body in the past but have never checked it out.

Halloween Party Countdown!!!!!

E's pumpkin carving Halloween party is tomorrow and I'm spending the day today getting the last of the things I need to make it a super-dooper BASH!

My schedule for today:

1.  Shopping (tealights, pumpkins, more poster paint and brushes, more carving tools, apples, caramel, sticks to make caramel apple slices...etc.)

2.  Making treat bags

3.  Baking cakes

4.  Choosing serving ware from my pantry

5.  Reminding kids to NOT knock on Ms. Monica's door today to ask to help or she will cancel the party, tear down the decorations and pass out pencils and erasers for Halloween.

That is all.

I've already created the music playlist and I have printed out several carving patterns for the kids to use.  I'm sure it's going to be pure chaos...but hey...it's HALLOWEEN!!!!!!!!!

If I didn't look and sound so horrid...I'd make a video.

A member of our "family" here is in the process of miscarrying her baby.  She's feeling really down and is in bed grieving.  The baby hasn't left yet but she has been told that her betas are too low for the baby to survive. 

Any advice and words of wisdom you may have will help her I'm sure because she's in a very dark place.

I really appreciate all you do to encourage us to be vain! I've really taken a lot of it to heart, including losing nearly 25 pounds and eating better. I'm single and looking, so I know I must do better for myself and whoever I meet.

My problem is this, I wear my hair with a curly texturizer, but sometimes I want to press my hair straight. I need tips from the ladies because my hair reverts so EASY. I'll spend an hour and a half on it, then walk outside to find myself with a big pouf ball on my head! It's long, so I look really wild when it happens. I can't relax it straight (I'm really sensitive and my hair falls out) and I like the curly option for my workouts. I just want variety. My question for the ladies is:

1. Is it true that hair has to be "trained" to respond to the pressing comb? Is there a special comb that you'd recommend?
2. Any products you use that prevent reverting?

3. Do you have any tips/or old folks wisdom on pressing hair? Seems like they knew something I don't.

Hot Toddy Recipe

Two lemons

2 tablespoons Honey

2 Green teabags

4 tablespoons of liquor with some tint to it (Bourbon)

4 cups of water

Slice lemons thin and put in pot with 4 cups of water.  Bring to boil and boil until water has reduced to about half.  Stir in honey and liquor put in teabags and cover letting steep for about 5 - 10 minutes.

Pour through a strainer and drink hot!

(I'm not adding this to the recipe because the Vick's people would be HORRIFIED if they knew it...but my mom added a bit of Vick's to it too.  Vick's says it ain't for digesting...but it never killed us.  LOL!)
