My husband is always there for me.

My husband is good with doing the things he knows I hate to do.

My husband recognizes my drive.

My husband always tells me I look beautiful.

My husband knows the depth of me.

My husband knows when I'm sad and why.

My husband would make an excellent father.

This shit is deep and it's REAL.

I've always noticed people who treat other people like shit.  See...I don't like people like that.  There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to treat someone like shit and if you can't do anything but...you don't need to be around that person.  See...I think people who NEED to treat people like shit are assholes and the less assholes have access to good people...the better.

Cuz this world has enough assholes and good people being around assholes makes them kinda assholeish.

Or something like that.

I believe everyone has good qualities.  I believe there are things I'm good at that I can be better at simply by paying attention to the most unlikely of sources and I do believe it's a reason why I'm able to do what I do so well because I LISTEN.

I FEEL.

I HAVE EMPATHY.

I don't like assholes man and when I see that ish going down I make tracks.  I'm too old and set in my ways to play fake and phony and fix my face so it's just best that I stay the hell away from assholes.

People that treat people like shit for no reason other than they think they can?  They have issues.

Stay away from them.  Please only surround yourself with people who take the time to treat you as you deserve to be treated.  Even if  you've fugged up big time...you still deserve the respect to be handled with gloves on or released with dignity.

I've always said that I would never, ever, EVER treat people as I've seen other folks treat people and I mean that.  I was raised right. 

I'm my mother's daughter.

How many people do YOU know that treat people like shit for no reason?  What is YOUR relationship like with them?  Do you find them to be happy people?  Do you think they have a good life?

Or does it just emphasize they must be some bitter, miserable azz MFs?

What do YOU think of prison justice?

Patrick Fousek, dad accused of trying to sell baby outside Walmart, brutally beaten in CA prison

It's well known that certain crimes will get the shit beat outta you in prison.  A while ago I was listening to NPR about a protection of prisoners within the justice system.  Seems this dude had been convicted of raping several little boys and well...um...other prisoners showed him in more than one way exactly how they felt about that.  Dude almost died from a particularly brutal attack on him and his family had enough money to get him a lawyer regarding.  According to the lawyer...the State prison he was in was responsible for his protection while there and he should be afforded certain assurances (due to the nature of his crime) to make sure he stayed safe while in jail.

Basically...lawyer dude was saying that his client shouldn't ever be in general population because he was a target and the argument ensued that making sure they are kept away from other prisoners was going to cost the State so much extra money and who was going to do that for child predators.

It got me to thinking...

What do YOU think about their protection in prison?  Do you think they should have EXTRA protection since they really are targets in jail?  Do you think they should have an area all to themselves and not subjected to general population as most prisoners are?  Do you think it's the prison's responsibility to make sure they don't get the crap beat out of them and worse?

In the contract it says you must agree to sans ropas at least twice a week whether you feel like it or not.

Too Hot NOT to Handle!

Robby and I had a day from HELL yesterday.  Seems every little thing that COULD go wrong to screw up relaxing as soon as possible in our own home DID.

First there was a flight coming from Cancun that was running late.  They waited for a bit to accommodate those passengers.  Cool.  I understand and appreciate that but when the people got on the plane and we were ready to roll...the thingy that pushes the plane back from the gate was broken so we had to sit there until they fixed that.

Um...okay...cool.

Tight Just to be Tight

I've always been extremely body conscious and never really rocked too much that showed too much.  Sure I might wear something that fits me well but there is a difference between something that fits the body well and something that's just tight to be tight.

Ladies...we must help each other stop wearing things that are simply tight to be tight.

I read an article recently that said women lie to each other too much.  That we allow each other to do craziness all in the name of being a good friend.

I don't think that's being a good friend.

So...I ask you this.  Do YOU think you're being a good friend if someone is doing something that doesn't put them in the best light and you not say anything to them about it?  Do YOU think it's cool to not be a resource for your friends?  Do YOU wonder sometimes if your friends are being good friends to YOU and if you could be doing better in areas you think you're struggling in if they WERE?

The electricity in about 20 of the 75 homes in your neighborhood goes out.

It is 97 degrees outside.

The electricity in YOUR home does not go out.

You have an elderly couple as neighbors. 

The husband's health isn't all that great.

The electricity company is saying the electricity won't be on until the next morning at 9:00am.

We're at the airport getting ready to come home.  I want to be in my own home so badly...I wish we could have left last night after the awards ceremony.  See...when I'm on...I'm ON and it takes a lot of energy.  Working a room is hard.  Working an entire festival with all types of different venues and people from all segments of the film industry?  EXHAUSTING! 

But oh...so...worth it indeed.

I had such a lovely and wonderful time at ABFF man.  I figure we'll attend this festival every year.  The vibe there is just so FABULOUS and the people?  INCREDIBLE!

I think I'm going to sleep until Wednesday so I can re-energize these old bones.

My sister is here! My sister is here!

I can't tell yall how much fun I'm having!  I'm sorry I haven't been blogging so much but the Verizon service in the Ritz is pretty much NON-EXISTENT and that's where I spend most of my time.

I just had an AMAZING meeting and I can't stop smiling about it.  It's amazing the connections that you make and have the opportunity to cultivate here.

If you've never been to ABFF...I suggest you give it a try.  From the aspiring filmmaker to the filmmaker to the person who truly enjoys simply watching movies...it's ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!  I've reconnected with people I haven't seen since last year and it's just like we're old friends picking up where we left off.

I'm enjoying my time but my resolve is such that now I know I gotta hit it even HARDER when I get home.  I have a dream yall...and Imma make it happen.
