I love my country man. I really, really do. I was talking to some people recently and they shared that they didn't know many Black people who were vocal about how much they love their country and I asked...probably a bit too sharply...how many Black people do you know dear?
I remember having conversations regarding race with my father and it bothered me...his view on things ya know? Dude was a piece of work and he tried to pass that down to me.
I wasn't having it.
I watch my Godson play with his friends in the neighborhood and I smile at the diversity which he sees as no biggie. Our neighborhood is so lovely because we seriously have people from all skin colors and cultures around these parts and seeing us all together is a beautiful sight indeedly. The beauty of it is how seamless it is when the children get together and have fun.
All the kids...no matter who they are call me Ms. Monica and I know all of their parents and yes...their parents know Ms. Monica will knock on a door in a heartbeat.
I read something today that stated that the Republicans main objective is to ensure that President Obama was a one term President. I wondered if they had the same zealousness as when other Democrat Presidents were in office.
*sigh*
But I love my country man. Love it with all of me.
A friend and I were talking politics and I reminded him to please go vote because the wealthy was putting all their money together to fight against the attempt to give middle class Americans more of the pie and make sure the wealthiest Americans paid their due regarding taxes.
He reminded me that we were in different tax brackets and that the Republicans have his personal best interest in mind. Dude was telling the truth from his point of view.
It's nice to be a double digit millionaire I'm sure.
Our voting books came and, I have to be honest, I'm not doing much research this year. Why? I'm voting strictly Democrat. Usually I vote for the best candidate PERIOD but the Republicans have pissed me off by being so negatively transparent.
Seriously.
Throw them D's on it!
Did yall know I voted for Bush in 2000? Well...I did. Gore wasn't doing it for me. In 2004 I rectified that but it was too late by then. They'd already scared the shit out of simple thinking Americans into voting their way.
I don't understand people who have the right to vote but don't.
And I have no respect for them either.
Please vote yall. I'm not about to tell you who to vote for but seriously...vote.
I love my country man and always will. I know my tax bracket may not be the same as a lot of other folks but I swear I vote with the greater good in mind and NOT for my own personal gain. I don't have a problem paying more taxes if more people will be helped in some way.
It's only fair.
Please go vote yall. Please. The next two years are going to be pivotal for our economy so please think about everyone...not just the richest Americans.
I love my country man. I'm going vote.
