E got to go trick or treating at the White House today!

He was all excited about it when I told him yesterday but when he realized we had to go while it was snowing, cold and rainy...he got a bit more like...erra...well...ummmmmm...
But he had to go anyway because we made a commitment and we follow through with our commitments rain, sleet or snow like the mailman! LOL!
When we got there I ended up having to give my ID to a secret serviceman while they did their check to make sure we were worthy. Let me tell you how this feels when you're going through that...
You're all confident and whatnot and then...you remember that parking ticket your husband may or may NOT have paid. ROFL! And you worry that the secret service is going to come over and be like...Ms. Mingo...we need to talk to you OVER.HERE.
LOL!
But apparently the husband has paid your ticket so...you're good.
We missed the President by about 10 minutes but E enjoyed himself nevertheless. He got some good treats and some good pics of the White House and after?
He got to go to one of my FAVORITE restaurants in DC. Equinox.
This restaurant is near and dear to Robby and I because our wedding celebration was held there. I've never taken E there before so I intentionally parked in the parking garage next door since it's like a block up from the White House and I knew we'd be cold and hungry once we finished and needed a place to THAW OUT.
The kid took to Equinox and raved about his meal. He makes me so proud when I watch him position his napkin and use his utensils properly. He remembers to work from the outside in and he knows how to drop his voice "just so" to ask questions he's unsure of regarding proper ettiquette. And I LOVE how much he appreciates a good meal. He's gonna marry a Southern girl I just KNOW IT! LOL!
I love that kid man. He truly brings me JOY!
All in all...it was a wonderful day. I wish we'd been able to have E see the President but I'm confident that will happen soon. President Obama is one of his heroes and this kid is going to do great things one day. It is DESTINED that he will meet President Obama.
I'm going to get his lil azz to smile for a picture one day.
