During the school week, E comes to 13700 after school since his mother doesn't get off until 5:00pm. E gets here, does his homework, has his snack and gets to do whatever he wants after that. Usually...it's hang out with his friends.
He has a new friend who rides his bus but doesn't live in our development. The kid has visited before since the school year started and he's a nice kid...but just a bit...um...erra...AMUSING to observe.
A couple of weeks ago, the kid showed up and rang the doorbell after Tsiporah had already picked up E. Robby had just walked through the door and was briefly telling me about his day. He walked to the front door and looked out and noticed the kid had his back to the door.
Robby opened the door and then the kid turned around with a grin which turned into confusion and then he like...turned all the way around without saying anything while looking CONFUSED AS HELL!
Robby...being Robby goes...
Robby: Well? What do you want?
Kid: Um...um...um...
Robby: (shaking his head trying to not laugh) You're at the right house. E has already gone home for the day.
I thought it was odd that Robby was still at the door so I walked up, grinned when I saw the kid and just said...
Me: Hey sweetie! He's already gone home. Does your mother know you're over here this late?
Kid: (Looking relieved because Robby had gone back inside.) Yes ma'am.
Me: Okay, well I'll tell E you stopped by.
And he rolled out.
I walked back into the family room and Robby is laughing his AZZ off!
Robby: You shoulda seen the look on that kid's face! I scared the crap outta him!
Me: Why are you scaring kids?
Robby: I didn't do anything. I just stood there. He almost jumped outta his skin!
So Robby reenacted the kid's shock and we laughed our azzes off.
Here's how the conversation went while discussing later with E.
Me: D came by the house looking for you.
E: Yeah...he said he rang the doorbell and an angry White guy came out and scared the mess outta him.
Me: Bwahahahahahahaha! But why was he scared?
E: That kid gets spaced out sometimes. He scares himself.
Me: Well...he did seem quite startled.
E: I told him that was just Uncle Robby and then he told me that you came outside and saved his life.
Me: That kid's funny.
E: Without even trying to be.
E is sooooooooooooooooo funny to me. Between him and Robby...iCan't.
When I told Robby about the conversation with E?
Robby: Good. These kids 'round here need to be scared of me.
Me: Why?
Robby: It might save their life one day.
SIP: *sigh*
