I credit this book for so, so much of the FABULOUSNESS that is my life.

Spotlight on a Tribe Member: kiz4tj

I met kiz4tj via blogging.

I met her in person for the first time when I was in New York during my internship with Mr. Spike Lee.

I fell in love with her and her daughters then.  They were just soooooooo full of life.

Our friendship has flourished over the years and she's one of the people I consider a part of my very private counsel and I wanted to share her story.

She married at a young age and she and her husband had two beautiful daughters.

They got a divorce and she continued working her behind off and got her bachelor's degree while working full-time.

She wanted to be a lawyer.

She quit her job and lived off of her savings for a minute while she studied for the LSAT.

She got a GREAT score and applied for law school.

She got into the law school of her choice but it was out of state.

She and her ex-husband made the decision that their daughters would live with him during her first year of law school because everyone knows the first year is the worst year.

It damn near broke her heart...but she was doing it FOR.THEM.

She just finished her first semester and seriously...she's kicking azz and taking names.

I'm so proud of her I could just BURST.

The second she finished her final exams she was on the first thing smoking to New York to get her babies and then came down and visited family and framily.

We had a BLAST!

The decision to leave her daughters with their father for a year was a major sacrifice for her but it was the right decision.  She loves her babies, their father loves his babies.  Those girls see how much their parents love, sacrifice and work hard for them.

I'm so proud of her and share her story with anyone who needs encouragement.  Anyone who has an excuse.  Anyone who believes they can't move the mountains out of their way to get the things done which need to be done.

I'm so very, very proud of her I could burst.

We don't talk as much as we used to because she's in school and she's FOCUSED.

We don't get to kee-kee and shoo-shoo practically at all.

But when I picked them up Wednesday night...everything fell right back into place as if there was no time at all betwix the LAST time we got to kick it.

She's one of my heroes.

Her daughters? 

My nieces.

I've met a lot of FABULOUS people through blogging.

I've invited many of them to my home and we're still alive and have never had a thing missing nor would we ever think to look for anything missing.

kiz4tj is just one of them. 

She is SUCH an amazing mother, daughter, student and friend.  She is kind.  She is gentle.  She is NOT the help.  She is every.single.thing a mother should be.  She's following her dreams and showing her daughters how REAL.WOMEN do it.

In 2012...Imma tell yall about many more of the FABULOUS people I've met via the blog.

The Tribe rocks.

Yall have no earthy idea.

If you have a dream and think you have obstacles...try being a single mother of two daughters trying to finish your bachelor's degree, studying for the bar, passing and going to law school.

She wrote it down and is making it happen.

I love, love, LURVE me some her.

Yall should be proud of her too.

It's hard being a grown up and live life with boundaries and character. It's so easy to do what everyone else does because even though you know in your heart it isn't right...it feels good. Live life the way you would want your daughter to live her life. You would want the best for her right? RIGHT. Want the best for you too. Get your ducks right and the right one for you will show up. I never did the things the "cool" girls did and yet...I was still able to find happiness with a husband who cherishes me and whom I cherish and it's GOOD. VERY.GOOD. Don't let what happens in the lives of others make you do things differently. You're not a follower...you're a leader.

 

Dear Amazon:

One of my husband's Christmas gifts was a Kindle Fire.

We left the house and returned together and it was sitting at the front door.

With the name KINDLE FIRE on both sides of the damn box.

Fortunately he can't see all that well at night so I was able to grab it without him seeing the sides telling him it was a book I'd ordered but that was a bit frustrating to say the least.

Also...who advertises on a delivery box what is INSIDE the dang box knowing good and well that FedEx, UPS and USPS sometimes leave packages at people's doors?  That's just NOT smart.

Seriously.

Stop doing that.

I am messaging you in hopes that the prayers of many will help one. Her name is Patty. She has beaten breast cancer twice now, but cancer has returned for a third time. She goes in for surgery tomorrow morning, which is earlier than we'd all thought originally. I have a friend who is extremely good at refinishing furniture.  Her home is a showplace filled with unique and solid pieces.  Large, stunning cabinets and armoirs which she found in a state of total chaos and she loads them up on her old truck she uses for this purpose, takes it home, removes all of the hardware, strips the paint, sands it down, repair damages to the wood, and stain, stain, and stain some more until she gets that stunning hue she's looking for. 

And then...she puts it in the perfect place in her home and it blows you away just how stunning the piece is knowing it's original state.

She takes pride in how well she does this and she should...it's an AMAZING talent to have.

Here are a few things you should keep in mind:

1.  If he'll cheat on her with you...he'll cheat on you with NEW BOOTY.

2.  You should know a man's full name before you sleep with him.  If a dude won't tell you his middle name...he's not thinking anywhere next to near long term with you.

3.  If every time you ask a question, a man tries to shut you up with a kiss.  He doesn't give a damn what your concerns are.

I've been annoyed with a man I know since Thanksgiving.  He did something that I VEHEMENTLY disagreed with and didn't show any remorse at all.  Like...he totally felt like he was perfectly within his rights to do what he did.

AFTER Thanksgiving I got PISSED with another man I know.  Like...so mad...I was standing a foot away from him and clenched my teeth together so that I said as little as possible because I knew...based on how ANGRY I was regarding what he'd done and what he CONTINUED to express with his actions and body language...I would have picked up something and started beating the crap out of him.

And based on his reaction when I walked up...he knew it too.

Pregnancy Busted

I learned a new thing the other day talking to Erica B. about that pregnancy show where the grandmothers started rumbling.

I was like...the poor young lady just looked so bad and I felt sorry for her.  Erica B. said that the girl was just pregnancy busted. 

Me:  Aaaaaarrrrooooooooooooo?????

And she went on to explain that some people just get so swole all over that they just look a mess. 

Hmmmmm...
