The Robinator and I got sick and TIRED of the way our basement storage looked and decided to buy some shelves and act like responsible grown-ups and get it organized.
I bought 5 of these shelves from Sears: Maxi Rack 72''H x 48''W x 24''D Steel Shelving Unit
I ordered them online and had them shipped to the store so I didn't have to pay any shipping fees. GO ME!
They were pretty easy to put together even though each box was 101lbs each. The Robinator used the dolly to bring them into the house and we simply trekked up and down the stairs with pieces down to the basement storage area and built them.
The biggest thing about what we had to do was move MOST of what was in the room out of the room into the mancave. As we were moving stuff we were doing some SERIOUS purging. We had sections going for trash, donating to the Salvation Army and things to keep.
I already had the shelving for the pantry section, so I just had to purge it as well and get everything dress right dressed.
When I put these shelves in forever ago, I had far less entertaining things than I do now so I am so happy I now have room to spread out!
The Robinator had added hooks to the unfinished ceiling beams long ago so we hung up stuff too and tried to give stuff it's own section-ish.
Apparently we have lots of holiday decor. LOL! GO FIGURE! And I tried to corral it all in the same section. Right now...we've grouped everything and just need to finish going through boxes, shred a whole bunch of stuff and put the rest of the stuff on the shelves where we now have boxes of stuff we need to deal with.
I put down some pretty awesome floor tiles which are made of 100% recycled materials and I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out as well. Later this week I'm going to finish them off by doing the finishing edges which need to be trimmed to size. The floor tiles come from here: InterfaceFlor
I don't know why I all of a sudden decided I really needed to be organized and get rid of major clutter...but I did...so we dealt with it. I'm really proud of us too because we didn't cuss not one time and we've been working on it for three days now. LOL!
I figure we'll be finished with it by the end of the weekend. See? And yall thought I wasn't taking it easy per doctor's orders! LOL!
