Online Dating First Date

On our first date, after meeting online, The Robinator and I met for dinner at a restaurant I frequented regularly.  I was comfortable because everyone there knew me and, if he ended up being crazy...I knew Savino and David 'nem would snatch and grab his azz with the swiftness.  LOL!

I wore a suit because I left the office and headed over in a cab.  Afterwards, I let him walk me to the nearest Metro and we said goodbye.  We saw each other the next day and every day that he was in town after that.  It was nice.  I remember smiling from ear-to-ear whenever I knew I was going to see him again.  He wore jeans that were tapered at the ankle (on our second date) and it made me side eye him but he was a perfect gentleman, he was smart and we laughed a lot.  It was nice from the very beginning even though I felt weird because he wasn't Black.  LOL!

SIP:  Hey...we're just keeping it real here okay?

My two cents? Romney did much better than I thought he would even though he still can't give SPECIFICS as to what he would do to get us out of the crap we're in.

Obama stayed the course and focused on specifics. He didn't get as many jabs in as I believe he could or SHOULD have but we all know our President is far more classier than I could ever hope to be.

I haven't been an undecided voter since 2007 (yup...I knew in 2007 that I was voting for STRAIGHT Democrats) so this debate really wasn't for me. That said...nothing changed for me.

Well...except for the fact that Jim Lehrer really made my teeth itch because he completely lost control and never really got it back. Seriously. 

I think I might go vote early this weekend just to make it clear.

The only change I made was to use dried parsley instead of fresh because that's what I had.  Oh...and I used gluten-free pasta, of course.  I wish I would have thought to take a picture of the meal so you can see how gorgeous it looks plated...but I didn't...so you get this pic instead.  Sorry dudes.  But that should speak VOLUMES as to how good it was!  GO ME!

Beauty Tips from the Elders

I was talking to an elder and sharing that I'm having some issues with my skin due to allergic reactions to something the doctors can't really figure out.  The elder asked what kinda issues and I shared that I was getting tiny bumps all over my face which were red and on fire.  I told her I was using three different medications from my dermatologist and that two of them were really expensive and I was frustrated as hell.

Elder:  Get you some zank soap and some apple cider vinegar.  Wash your face with the zank soap twice a day and mix 1 part of the vinegar and 1 part of the water and wipe your face down good with the vinegar mix after.  Then put your face cream on and nothing else for a few weeks.  You'll be aiight.

Me:  Zank soap?

Elder:  Yes.  Zank soap.

Me:  I'm writing it down so I don't forget.  How do you spell it?

Elder:  *DEEP.SIGH*  (Like she's speaking to a plum fool.)  Z-I-N-C.

Me:  Okay!  Zinc soap!  

Elder:  Mmmmhmmmmm...

Me:  Love you!

Elder:  Mmmmmhmmmm...don't use no stuff to wash anything that's going to be next to your face  with color in it either.  None of that Downey or nothing.  Specially on your sheets and pillowcases.  They put all kindsa stuff in there that can mess you up.  Love you too.  Bye.  *CLICK*

So...I went to Amazon and bought some ZANK soap:  Zinc Soap

Then I went to my basement storage and got a fresh bottle of apple cider vinegar and did me up a mix as I was instructed.  I've been using it for two weeks now and yup...it's working.  I had to reduce the amount of apple cider vinegar because it was way too strong and dried me out too much.

I also started washing my sheets with All Free Clear.

So the latest in the Raymond saga is that Usher gave Tameka 60 days notice and put his house up for sale.  Apparently he's been letting her live in it, rent free, since the divorce.

Seems like a stand up kinda thing.

So now...she's got to find somewhere else to live.

This divorce has been a public splatter you know?  I mean...I feel bad for everybody involved.

The Tale of Two Irons

Pre-Monnie Robby bought an el cheapo iron forever ago.  The bottom wasn't coated.  The cord didn't retract.  It didn't have a steam function.

I'm sure he bought it at KMart for $12.99.

When we merged lives, we started using my iron.  Nice enough.  I probably bought it at Target and, knowing the me I was at the time...I probably paid mid-thirty dollars for it.

Robby's iron was regulated to the guest bedroom closet.

Years later, my original iron died and I decided that maybe...just maybe...it was time to step up my iron game.

So on the hunt I want!

After pretty much exactly 13 months of ownership...it died a rusty, non-retractable death while spitting rusty "blood" all over one of my organic white t-shirts.

I threw that sucker away in a too-fit-to-be-tied way and pulled out the pre-Monnie iron and did what I had to do.  I had every intention of buying a new iron but...the pre-Monnie iron was doing darn good ironing.  Like...FOR REAL!

So I never bought a new one and that sucker is getting it IN!

The last time Dr. Punkin was here she was ironing and walked in my room carrying the pre-Monnie iron.

Dr. Punkin:  Monnie...you know I have one of those hundred and some dollar irons and I'll be darned if this iron doesn't iron better than it.

Me:  Yup.  I know.  That was Robby's iron before he met me and it is seriously the best iron ever.

That iron is probably 20 years old.

Amazing.
