Eyebrow Maintenance - Tell the truth and shame the devil!

A girlfriend was mortified to find that I never did anything to my own eyebrows between visits to Shaista to get them threaded.  Ever since I shared that with her, whenever I see her...her eyes shoot straight up to my eyebrows to see what I'm working with.  LOL!

Honestly...I don't even know how often I go get my brows done.  I guess I could figure it out by looking at my debit card statement but I generally go get them done when I look up and think...damn...I need to get my brows done OR...when I have something going on and don't want the people to think I was raised by mountain people.

I own tweezers, of course, the good kind too.  Found them at a Nordstrom Rack forever ago but I use them to pull out splinters and well...that might happen once a year.  LOL!

How do YOU maintain your brows at home?  

Do you do something daily or is it weekly kind of thing?  

How often do you get YOUR brows done?  Are they done currently?

Yall know I'm pretty liberal.  I think people should be happy doing whatever they want to do in life as long as it's not breaking the law.  Everything ain't for everybody and I don't need to be all up in the middle of something to know it's not for me and yet...still be cool if you choose it for YOU.

If a man wants to wear lingerie for men...ABSOLUTELY...go 'head on and get you some frilly stuff to wear in the comfort of your home.  You couldn't be MY MAN mind you...but hell...you're still a man...so do you.

I couldn't imagine The Robinator's burly azz laid up with some lace and ribbons talking some, "Hey girl, come here."  I don't WANT to imagine him posted up in lace and ribbons talking some, "Hey girl, come here."  I don't want to imagine ANY man I know laid up like a pron star in some lace and ribbons talking some, "Hey girl" but if that's how they get down AT THEIR HOME...get it.

That ish just won't go down over here.

Everything ain't for everybody.  Doesn't mean we condemn it if other's get down like that...we just ain't getting down like that.

Hey Monnie, My husband and I are adopting a 9 year old girl.   We just got the news that she available to come live with us in June.  We don’t want to be completely unprepared when she gets here.  In her room we have a bunk bed, chest of drawers and a small desk.  Some of my teacher friends gave us books for her age group.  But we’d  like to know what the average 9/10 year old would like other than books and computers.  We’d like just a bit of help with ideas of setting her space up and anything else we can do to make her comfortable.

Weight Training for Women

When you hit 40, you're encouraged to make sure you are doing weight training with your work out schedule because the older we get, the more muscle strength we lose for one.

At Home Hand Exfoliate

After staining the deck with a brush, my hands got pretty icky feeling.  The stain just made it all rough feeling and whatnot no matter how much lotion I put on.  I felt like a dramatic scrub was necessary. Every now and then I have a marathon conversation with one of my good friends.  We catch up what's going on with the other discuss all sorts of stuff.

On the corner by our house the grass is coming back all weird so The Robinator decided to spread some seeds.  

First...he put this down over the problem area:  Scotts Turf Builder 15.97 lb. Fertilizer with Plus 2 Weed Control

Then...he used a seed spreader to spread the seed:  Pennington 1 Step Complete

Then...he watered it down well and covered it with hay.

So...our neighbor is going to water it in the mornings and Robby is going to water it in the evening.  He's thinking he should have some new grass sprouting by the end of the week.

Scenario from real life...

A 35 year old guy you're seriously dating doesn't talk much about his father.

His parents got divorced when he was 4 years old and his father got another job in another state clear across the country.

His father re-married and had 3 children.

He's met his step-mother twice and his half-siblings once.  

He and his mother are close.

His mother believes that, had his father not moved...he would have continued being a part of his life.

He believes that his mother never got over his father and thinks of him in an idealized way.

His half-sister invited him to her wedding.

He doesn't know if he should go.

He asks you what you think.

What do you say?

Would you remind him that he's an adult and that, if he wanted to get to know his father, he could do so now?

Or would you be of the mind that he should let sleeping dogs lie and say nothing much allowing him to work this out on his own?

 

Marriage Talk...Serious only should apply?

I was talking to someone who is dating someone new.

All of two weeks.

She's pretty happy with the way things are going and thinks that, SHOULD THEY GET MARRIED, they'd be happy together.

SIP:  AAAARRRRRUUUUUUU?????

She told me of a situation which came up and he told her that, SHOULD THEY GET MARRIED, that situation wouldn't go down like that.

SIP:  AAAAAARRRRRRUUUU????

She also shared that, SHOULD THEY GET MARRIED, some other things about him would have to change.

SIP:  AAAAARRRRRRUUUU????

Back when I was dating, I always felt weird when a new guy came out the gate talking about marriage all willy nilly.  To me...marriage talk should only be held between two people who know each other MUCH better.  I'd feel like a dude was using the marriage talk as a ploy.  Some kinda bait.  A piece of the game they were playing.  

In my experience...you may have only discussed marriage lightly as in, "Do you see yourself married one day?"  Or..."How long have your parents been married?"  

Not as in..."If we get married...blah, blah, blah."

How do YOU feel about marriage talk early on like that?  Are you FOR or AGAINST it?  Does it weird you out a bit?  Have you ever felt like a guy was using marriage as "bait?"

Thank you so much for thinking of me, AGAIN, and sharing with me, AGAIN, how I could make so much money by doing 5 Linx.  I didn't answer your first three messages regarding thinking that you'd simply figure out that it's not for me.  I answered your fourth message politely and courteously letting you know for SURE that 5 Linx was not something I was interested in doing.

That said, I'm sure you can understand why I think your FIFTH message regarding could possibly be taken as pushy so I'll put my response here in hopes we never have to revisit again.

I have no interest in doing 5 Linx.  I hope it is working for you the way you believe it will.  I wish you MONUMENTAL success with your 5 Linx business.  I will stick to doing the things I do.  Housewifing and filmmaking.  Your recruiting energy will be better used on someone else.

Oh...and just as an FYI, should you decide to start an Amway, Herbalife, Mary Kay, Avon, Juice Plus, Primerica etc. business and are in the process of attempting to get others to start a business within those businesses as well...I'm not interested in any of those opportunities either.  I'm not saying that I will not stock up on some Skin-So-Soft from Avon or flip through the book to see if they are still selling my mother's fave Cherry Jubilee lipstick mind you...I just have no interest in SELLING it.

But again...TOTALLY wishing you success with it.

Scenario from real life...Part 3

So...the mother of your child's friend has overstepped a few boundaries.

Your daughter and her daughter are good together and for each other.

When questioned as to why your daughter can't spend the night, you answered, "Because I said so.  Do I need to come pick her up or are you still going to drop her off because I can head out right this minute to get my daughter."

She brought your daughter home.

It was quiet for a few weeks and then Spring Break was approaching.

You were at work when you received a text message from the mother asking if your daughter can go swimming with them later that day.

You respond, "Can't talk, in a meeting.  She can't go today."

You receive a text IMMEDIATELY back asking if your daughter can do something with them tomorrow.

You look at the text and see red because, again, you told that chick you were in a meeting and now...you're counting in your head so you can visibly appear to not be LIVID.

By the end of the meeting you've calmed down and decide to not answer the text.  

QUESTION:  Would you call the mother and ask her to meet you for coffee so you may discuss and be CLEAR about your expectations?  Or would you just cut her off completely?

Last weekend I was showing a couple of girlfriends how to do a proper plank.  One of them scrunched her face up and was like..."That looks like it's hard to do.  What else ya got?"  

And I told her that this is why she is not allowed to workout with me because I'd spend too much time side eyeing her instead of my hit it quick strength training.

Yall know I'm 43 years old and I'm vain as hell.  I go out of my way to try and keep my stride as STANK as possible, MY WAY.

I LURVE planks.  I love how hard it makes my abs feel.  Like...I can seriously feel my personal strength in the direct center of me.  SO HOT!  Working out for me is my mediation.  You know...my quiet time.  I like to do it alone and get it out of the way quickly.

I have a friend that I made at the gym who has been trying to get me to "train" her for a minute now.  I constantly tell her that I don't have any initials behind my name so I can't train nobody for nothing and I'm not trying to get sued.  LOL!  She says she'd never sue me and I stick with it cuz the only body I'm confident I know well enough to keep in shape is MINE.  Oh...and once you leave the gym...you're on your own.  I can't control what you're eating so there is no telling how you're stacking up the odds AGAINST keeping your stride STANK with your diet.

Too many factors.  TOO.MANY.FACTORS.  I can't train nobody nuttin.  Hell...I can't even train Jaru and Lucy to sit.  

SIP:  Unruly azz dogs.

You get a friend request from someone you don't know, she is from your husband's hometown. You accept and scroll through her friends list and notice that she is "friends" with your husband. He always makes a huge deal about how social media as a whole is ridiculous and has said time and time again that he doesn't "do" Facebook. His profile is public, he is "single" and there are no pictures except for some he is tagged in. It looks like his friends are primarily women from his hometown (where he hasn't lived for at least 15 years) and a few members of his family. He is also "friends" with his father who joined Facebook just a few months ago, so you are pretty sure this isn't some old forgotten page. How do you handle?

Yall know Nintendo knows I'm a big kid at heart and sends me free stuff to try out right?  Right.  Well...last week the FedEx guy dropped off a new game for me to play and it's been sitting here neglected while I do some real life stuff to keep everyone off my back.  

You know...responsibilities and whatnot.  The joys of being an adult.  UGH!

So...I called in an expert to help me and he got right down to it giving me an opportunity to continue working while he took it on a test drive for me.

When he finished playing, he allowed me to interview him so I could add his findings to a post about the game.

Did you enjoy playing the game?

Expert:  YES!

What's it basically about?

Expert:  It's about a policeman named Chase McCain who is solving a big crime.  He has to catch a lot of criminals and take them to jail.  He's involved in car crashes and he has to help people when they ask him to.

What kinds of things do you get to do?

Expert:  Jump flagpoles, chase people, drive cars among a lot of other things.

What was your favorite part so far?

Expert: Chasing the people because I enjoy chasing people at school.

Are there any parts which you found particularly difficult?

Expert:  Yes.  Jumping the flagpoles is pretty difficult.  

Would you recommend this game?

Expert:  Yes.  I'd recommend it to all my friends!

How do yall think he did?  It was his first interview as an 8 year old but I seriously predict big things in his future as he has quite a way with words!

The following week the friend comes over to your home and all is well.

The week after that...your daughter goes over to their home to hang out and stays for dinner.

NEGATION.

You don't do sleepovers with your daughters.

You remind your daughter of this.

Fifteen minutes later...the mother calls and asks why can't your daughter spend the night.

Your teenage daughter has a friend at school.

The young lady has been over and she's pleasant and polite.  

You approve.

The young lady invites your daughter to the movies and you speak to her mother regarding telling her that your daughter has to be back home by 7:00pm.

The mother agrees.

The mother and daughter pick up your daughter.

The mother seems nice and you don't pick up on any red flags.

7:00pm comes...no daughter.

You start calling.  No answer.  Phone goes straight to voicemail.

You call the mother's phone.  No answer.  Phone goes straight to voicemail.

7:15, 7:30, 7:45...your finger is on the ready about to call the police.

8:00pm and the car pulls up, drops your daughter off and she comes FLYING IN THE HOUSE!

"MOMMY PLEASE DON'T FLIP OUT WE WENT TO APPLEBEE'S AFTER THE MOVIE AND MY PHONE DIED AND MS. SUCH-AND-SUCH FORGOT TO TAKE HER PHONE OFF SILENT AFTER THE MOVIE SO SHE DIDN'T KNOW YOU'D CALLED!"

Everyone is well aware of what is going on in Boston today, I'm sure.  You can't get away from it and well...maybe you shouldn't.  I like to be informed.  I just don't care for the constant talking about nothing pretending you're talking about something.  And...I don't like seeing  pictures of bloody and/or dead Americans.

Especially babies.

This morning I heard that Boston is on a straight up for real lock down and two things popped up in my head.

1.  I knew that shooting at MIT last night before we went to bed was related.

2.  Wait...WASN'T PRESIDENT OBAMA IN BOSTON JUST YESTERDAY FOR THE MEMORIAL SERVICES AND THESE TERRORISTS ARE RUNNING AROUND WEARING BOMBS AND SHIT?????????

And the latter REALLY disturbed me.

The manhunt for the 19 year old terrorist is ongoing and I'm confident they are going to get him. They are not playing around.  I feel like the terrorist is going to try and go out with a bang but honestly...I hope they catch him alive because he probably has so much more information that would be useful.

See look...you've seen the pictures.  They weren't trying to hide.  They looked pretty confident in those pictures.  For them to be that way while pulling this off and then carjacking people and trying to use their debit card for cash and robbing a 7-11 sounds to me like somebody didn't uphold their side of the plan and left them hanging so they were desperate.

I want the authorities to know who those people are too.

Quickly.

This is the world we live in where these people are sleeper terrorists in plain view and well...there is nothing we will ever be able to do about that.  When we find some of them, however, we should try and find as many of them as possible and eradicate those cells.

In my opinion.

And yes...I'm just a housewife.
