"Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure." 1 Timothy 5:22
Aiight...yall know I'm not big on organized religion. It's just...well...a lot and my experiences with the leaders within organized religion have been such that I decided I'm good without it. I get my church on tv style, read my own bible, use my own brain and experiences to decide what's what and have thoughtful and insightful conversations about religion with friends I trust in this area.
T.D. Jakes was one of the few "men of God" in organized religion that I respected and trusted. Sure...his lavish lifestyle makes me feel some kinda way knowing there are plenty poor parishioners in his church but hey...he makes it honest so spend it as he wishes right?
Right.
Tyler Perry makes movies. We all know this. And he's made a LOT of money doing so. He's an entertainer.
T.D. Jakes is a "man of God."
So when an ENTERTAINER "lays hands" on a "man of God" and the "man of God" starts talking in tongues (SIDE EYE SIDE EYE SIDE EYE) from the ENTERTAINER'S touch...JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL.
Yeah I said it.
Now we all know that if Tyler Perry gave me a million dollars and put his hand on me I'd be tongue twisted and couldn't speak correct english for a few minutes too. I'd be twitching and jumping and shouting too.
But I'm not a respected "man of God" who leads MANY in his flock.
I'm feeling some kinda way and know it's a private, personal thing I have to figure out how to justify the man I respected with the caricature of who he was on that stage as Tyler Perry "laid hands" on him like in a damn vaudeville show.
SIDE.FLIPPING.EYE.
But it's probably just me.
What say YOU?
What did YOU think when you saw it and/or heard about it?
