Do not read further if you haven't caught up with season one and plan to or plan on watching the series later. Something went down on this last episode that shook me.
SHOOK.ME.
And I need to discuss with other folks who watched it too.
Cuz again...I WAS SHOOK!
Okay...yall...where do we start?
So...when Bunchy was grappling with his feelings about killing the priest and, he calmly discussed the priest's "communion" during his sexual abuse...I started cringing. I was blown away by the depth of those words. I mean...I guess I never thought about how fugged up those priests actually have to be to merge abuse and religion like that. Just...UGH! Have you ever thought about that?
GOSH! And when poor Bunchy was talking about how peaceful fishing was? Lord...I almost started crying for that poor baby trying to justify what that sick bastard was doing to him so he could have all the things and experiences he was giving to him.
When Ray's wife walked in and then walked out...I found some respect for her finally. She assessed what was going down and rolled out trusting her husband. What about you? Could you have done that?
When the priest told Ray, "I loved you." and you realized what went down...were you shocked too? Did it explain Ray more to you? Did you get why he can't bring himself to be emotionally honest with anyone and how the word 'LOVE' to him is probably ruined?
Did you think Abby knew Ray had been abused too? I'm sorry...but no matter what my husband said to me I wouldn't have left his side after finding that out. Idda been like...well...we gonna die in this damn house together then. The kids are safe. I'm not leaving you to continue to deal with this shit alone.
I now understand that he feels like he's the reason Bunchy is like he is. Because had Ray said something about what happened to him...then it would have never happened to Bunchy. That's why he feels like he is perpetually responsible for Bunchy.
And family. Whoa...family. Just made you think about family didn't it? All of it. The good, the bad, the ugly.
When Daryll came in using his key...and Ray was like..."You a Donovan?" It was weird that I was like...yeah...FAMILY even as I was like...whoa...this family is just...WHOA...
Micky and Claudette? Whew! Would YOU do what she's about to do? Sounds like she wants to repay a mighty debt to Micky. Is it worth it?
Do you think Ray hates Micky so much because Micky let it happen or because Micky knew? I mean...all THREE of the brothers were abused by that dude. Only Terry escaped because he fought back. There has to be a connection there right?
What did you think about the season as a whole so far? Are you ready for the finale? I might stay up late to watch it Sunday. We usually watch it on Tuesday nights (cuz football is on Monday nights...*sigh*) but heck...I'm already chewing my nails worried about them! This show is SO.GOOD!
